Hansberry's commitment seems to have ended those recruitments. Watson dropping in rankings reinforces that they made the right call.

They stopped recruiting Watson a long time ago ...

Dunlap was trying to set up a visit but saw the writing on the wall with the staff slow playing him and didn't want to lose his spot at other schools ... Tough being a non top 100 HS kid right now, these schools aren't handing out scholarships to those kids anymore ... They will just wait on the portal

Half right, lol? Without a doubt WRT to Watson. But I still think we're looking for a rangy shooter. Dunlap didn't quite meet our criteria. Being very picky is an affirmation that recruiting is in a VVG spot.

I just don't think this is going to be the case in the long term. It's still about the numbers and they have to come from somewhere. The transfer portal competition is going to get more intense. Now with a fixed window it's going to play out in some odd ways.

I also wonder how these transfers are going to get integrated into new systems. Coaches may end up wishing they didn't have so many transfers.

Oddly enough, I think some of these kids might be better at a lower tier school in a smaller conference. Look at Podz. If we had lost him in the recruiting process and then he was putting up 15+ a game at Santa Clara, we'd be talking about him transferring. So while it's "tough" for the top 100 guy it might be a blessing. More minutes at a school they belong at while still having the ability to enter the portal themselves.

There's no way of knowing if they'd have developed any better at a P5. How much is personal and how much is programmatic? Hard to say.

No way to know for sure, but you can make a pretty strong argument with Baldwin. He got thrown in as the savior, (probably way too early, as he aggravated the ankle inury that ended his high school career) and pretty much was expected to single handedly win games and save his dad's job. It's pretty hard to image a worse scenario to be honest. Possible it could've been worse, but pretty unlikely.
