IHSA website posted the Final 4 team's stats.

Certa is scoring 26.5 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 2.4 apg, 48% FG, 36.3% 3 pt, 78.3% FT (little disappointed in the 3 pt%)

Phoenix Gill 11.1 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 2,7 ppg, 50.8% FG, 35% 3 pt, 76.2% FT

A guy brought up on here in the past in passing, Ethan Kizer from Metamora is getting 13.9 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 2.3 apg, 45.2% FG, 40.5% 3 pt, 67.1% FT. Not saying we should have recruited him, but Metamora is a very balanced team with 4 starters averaging 10 ppg or more. I am saying that this guy is also a 6'6" athletic player that should have been recruited harder by Illinois State and Bradley. He's going to South Alabama.
3pt % alone isn't enough info -- shot attempts play into that as well. Someone who shoots it infrequently might get open looks and still shoot 35%. Someone who shoots a ton of them is probably closed guarded and still shooting 35%.

I still think we need to get the Devries kid from Drake! 2 years left, 6’7” sharp shooter. Plays for his father, but I bet his dad would love to see him go to a bigger school!

I think that's a pipedream. It's not like Tucker was an unknown coming into college. He was a 4-star recruit. He could have gone to a bigger school right out of the gate if that's what they wanted. He's playing for his dad, and they are in the NCAA tournament field. He's the MVC POY and the NBA is definitely watching with interest. I'm not sure how a kid could be in a more special situation. I'd be shocked if he hits the portal.

A lot of smaller conference players already hitting the portal (or announcing they will — not sure if it is officially open yet). Will we have interest in any? IIRC Pickett was from a smaller conference.

I shot 32% from three my junior year. It's really more about shot volume and mechanics.

Coleman's Dad said he's more than likely gone after this year. Shannon OTOH, is moving closer to coming back. Of course if you had to pick between the 2 to comeback it would clearly be Shannon.
I hope they both make an informed, wise choice that is best for him long term financially and don’t take an I don’t care what experts think I know I can do it. Maybe Kofi is happy with his choice, playing in Japan and it was best for him I do not know. In Hawkin’s case (28 percent from 3 and 60.5 percent from the line) the state of his game I see him overseas if he chooses to leave but whatever he decides to do I hope he listens to experts and not the wrong people. I would love for him to be recruited to stay another year but only if that’s what’s best for him in the long run. Making that choice prematurely may not work out like they hope but I hope it does. There are no do overs.

His numbers are consistent and don’t lie. The shot is flat and something need to change. Good shooters don’t have those numbers and explain shooting in the 60s from the line for two seasons. I am concerned with him at the line in close games for a good reason, Hawk stuggles. His shot looks pretty flat comeoated to most good shooters. I do think he can improve some with hard work either here or elsewhere. I don’t think that will be on an NB A roster and with NIL $$ why not recruit him to stay another year
He has such a fluid release... I remain perplexed by his struggles at the line. From the arc too, he should absolutely be better.
This is based on memory only (though I could check the tape), but I feel like he was catching the ball closer to the rim in that home game vs. Wisconsin in which he hit 6 of 9. It's as if being 5 feet behind the line suits his eye for some reason. Is he trying to force a longer closeout? Would you even be concerned with his 28% as an opposing coach? I'm not a coach so I don't know what the prevailing school of thought is here, but it just feels like you are more of a threat if you catch it at 23'.
Shoot, this is the recruiting thread. Someone just dm me your thoughts on this. I need to know!

At the line at least when I watch Hawk his release appears to be more out in front and flatter when compared to good FT shooters like RJ or TSJ who’s release seem more up instead of out. They have a higher release and arc on their shots. I recall Coach Lou Henson say when shooting a FT your hand should be up as if your standing right in front of your fridge reaching in a cookie jar on top! I was just a kid but I’ll never forget that. He also said make a circle with your hand and pretend your eye is the ball n look at how much bigger it looks coming from a higher angle. That’s why arc is important.! I loved Coach Henson! No one flipped a coattail to fuss at refs better than him!

Do NBA scouts hate him complaining after every foul call like it's the biggest miss in the history of basketball? I know I do. 😉

Arch can help in both situations. His step back 3s come with better arch than his other shots. ARCH!

Kid can play, but may be like Dougie McBuckets at Creighton. Great player, playing for his dad, loves that situation. I’m sure any number of major programs would have loved to have him.

And Lieb has both his senior year AND his COVID year. However, I don't think Illinois is obligated to give him a scholarship for that fifth year.
feel like Lieb probably stays next year to get his degree and then transfers for his 5th year

It’s called the 3pt arc not arch. So is the path of a shot for example golf or hoops. Not sure why you did this. An Arch is a structure.
An arc is a curved shape or the curving path of a moving object. In mathematics, an arc is part of a circle’s circumference. Your the math guy Stats
Anyway we need to recruit more shooters that have higher arcing shots!
