With the understanding that its a personal/family decision and none of my business, Georgia is objectively a downgrade as a program.
Ok. But his goal is (presumably) to make money playing basketball. Playing 10 mpg next year doesn't bring him closer to that.

You could say the same with the program quality at Santa Clara, but that didn't stop Podz from thriving and it could (again) be the best for everyone involved. Whereas Grandison going to Duke didn't seem to help him, so judging solely on program quality is suspect.

Which transfer to Illinois has had the biggest impact for Illinois? Battle? or Norman going back 35 years. I am probably forgetting others.
Which transfer from Illinois has had the biggest impact for his new team? Podz? and I am sure someone like Robish or someone else had a good college career.

Michael White did a great job with them this year. The team Crean left him went 6-24. In his first year this season they went 16-16. I’m sure they expect to make the tourney soon
And Erik Pastrana is his assistant there, who was on BU's staff at Stephen F. Austin. I would imagine that's part of the connection there.

Best of luck to RJ. There remains a lot of potential there, I hope he's able to unlock it.

I believe Ryan Blackwell did well at syracuse if we're going back a little ways.

Was talking about the guys so far this year. But if you want to use that example, Grandy barely saw the floor
36 games 15.7 minutes. 566 minutes. Wasn't a focus on offense 136 FGA. 89% on free throws. I saw parts of a couple of Duke games and found myself almost rooting for them when he was on the floor. I can't help thinking that he might have been a calming influence if he had still been here. You know that he would have been where coach wanted him to be when he was playing.

Embarrassed to admit I thought talent wise at least, RJ after his Freshman year could be NBA talent after 3 maybe 4 years here. Even with a slow start this year I stayed with him and that forecast. Have to admit I may not be as smart as I look. I am going to go back to commenting about WBB. After two wives, many girlfriends, 4 daughters and several thousand women employees over the years I still don't understand women. However I did say they would have a great season this year and Bostic would again be near the top in the B1G in rebounding. So don't ask me about MBB. Good luck RJ.

Say what you want about some of these guys transferring out, but not a single one has gone to an equal or better program. Not even close to be honest

What's the old saying about 'Water Seeks Its Own Level'?

Perhaps the Portal is like Water. Guys start out at one level and don't feel 'right' there and they seek out 'Their' own Game's level... up or down. Or even just at Level if where you're headed looks like Greener Grass than what you were in.

Scott Pierce was a key piece of Oklahoma State’s Final Four team.

Scott Haffner exploded (much like Podz) at Evansville.

16 MPG for Slim

16 minutes/game is not "barely sees the floor". He was a rotational player who had big fluctuations depending on what Duke wanted for matchups or offense. He also regressed as a shooter. It's okay to say he got less playing time than he did with '21-22 Illinois. Those minute numbers are in the range of Sencire and Rodgers. No one on here is proclaiming those two barely saw the floor.

but how many are getting more money?

This is my problem with the whole process. The mid-major guys moving up makes sense, as does guys on the end of the bench moving down, but most of the P6 guys are going to schools about the same level. What's the point of starting over in a new system, unless you are having problems at your old school? Money seems the only likely answer.
