TSJ talked about seeking a fully guaranteed contract. It seems if that isn't likely he will return. Doesn't he need to go in round one for that to happen?
No. Some second rounders get a year or two guaranteed, some get none. There is no set scale. Depends on the player, how high he is drafted, the overall payroll situation of the particular team, and the effectiveness of the player agent. It's probably reasonable to predict that most players taken in the bottom half of the second round will get little or no guaranteed money.

Literally anyone in the portal that can play the 2. Anyone on the current team that can play the two. Anyone who plays basketball and is college eligible. Anyone that has hands. Anyone.
Haha I feel that! I don’t want Love either but we need a 2 that can get a bucket, that’s all.

Thanks to this thread I now think about this video once a day.

Old enough to know a few things
1) The "You can call me Ray" bit wasn't funny when it was new.
2) The "You can call me Ray" bit isn't funny now.
3) Caleb Love would make the team chemistry much worse than it was last season, and the results as well.
4) The Illini must have a very good point guard. There have been some very good freshmen in the past but the guys in the draft won't come back for one.
5) If they want Hawkins back the coaches better find a vet PG. Not sure Shannon can transfer again without sitting out.

Thank you. I add absolutely no value concerning basketball matters within this recruiting thread. Instead, I occasionally serve as a generational portal through which the youth who are the vanguard of our fanbase may access the realm of late-20th-century culture, which would otherwise remain unknown to them. ;)

As a bonus, they're also welcome to play on my lawn as I sit in my La Fuma patio recliner and sip G&Ts languidly in the shade. And Await Ray J's commitment and the ensuing repatriation of TSJ and CoHawk that I hope will occur faster than a document cylinder moved via pneumatic tube in a 1960s department store or bank.

Your prose is full of panache and beaming with info into your personal preference's in an otherwise wacko society........it screams that there still is hope when in one thread you describe gutting a cat and later relaxing with a tasty gin & tonic in the shade......

Your actions boldly show a multiple personality but you seem to have it in control.......with the multiple personality trait , I find you more than worthy of posting further in this thread to give your friends here more evidence of your multiple skills ........

What's next ?? ..........a multitasking of such relevance to shake the world or at least give our world here a massive jolt ????

What say ye , bold writer of the alphabet ????

We didn't have a legitimate and steady PG, which made #1 and #3 come to fruition. Not having a reliable PG is a killer. They manage games on the floor, they settle things down, they get the offense in motion at the right time, they make sure people know where they're supposed to be.....they make sure there's more than 5 seconds on the shot clock before this is all done. Plus, they can break down a defense and make the right pass(not turn it over).
True, I should have added another category regarding roster mix, and that was definitely an issue with Skyy first failing to meet expectations and then just literally leaving the team. Either way, a hypothetical team of TSJ, Coleman and RayJ (in addition to the confirmed returning players) would be REALLY nice on paper and would give our fans rightful reasons for optimism!

I first heard this bit when it was on an episode of King of the Hill. I had assumed it was just some schtick they had made up. I never thought it was actually a real bit that an actual comedian used until people started referencing it with the RayJ recruitment.

A chicken, Pru. I said I gut a chicken every morning. Not a cat, my friend. 😹🐔

I was hoping my invocation of a “ generational portal” would inspire a PruGIF (TM) and you did not disappoint.

I maintain faith that the generational portal will bestow PG bounty upon The Beloved :illinois: soon enough, and TerrHawk shall follow. The Insider Oracles have spoken. All will be well.

As for me, a long stretch of work is coming to fruition this evening. That G&T awaits:

Home, home again.
I like to be here when I can.
When I come home cold and tired
It's good to warm my bones beside the fire.
Far away across the field
The tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spells.
