I guess the most ideal situation here is: Moretti leaves, Williams replaces his role, and we land a transfer like Jaelen House to be our starting pg.

(I asked if House would be an option here and LvilleLL liked my post so maybe there's something there but I'm probably just reaching)

Not sure I would say Epps blossomed. Could score at times. Not good on D. Not a good facilitator. Had no clue on PnR.
Really a smaller 2 guard. Would have been glad to keep him but not a PG.
Pick and choose all you want....he was a FR who developed and has some game. Half the board wouldn't be on the deep end if he was still on the roster now.

Guard: Sincere Harris, Jeremiah Williams, Justin Harmon, Niccolo Moretti, Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn
Wing: Terrence Shannon, Ty Rodgers, Luke Goode, Marcus Domask
Big: Coleman Hawkins, Dain Dainja, Quincy Guerrier, Amani Hansberry

Huh. A lot to unpack there.
I hate to say it, but that group of guards is pure doo doo. Two freshmen, two dudes that can’t shoot, and a backup-caliber two guard. You can’t win without good guard play. That group doesn’t give us that. Not next year, anyway.

Kevin Durant went from May 9, 2019 until December 22, 2020 until he played another competitive basketball game. That is 593 days.

Jeremiah Williams tore his Achilles October 6, 2022. If he took his time recovering for as long as Kevin Durant did, he would not suit up for another game until May 21, 2024.
He had an achilles injury, no duh he's going to miss that much time. The subject is not about how much time he missed it's what he looked like when he came back. And he's still Kevin Durant.

Age will play into recovery time as well as attitude. I think the youngster will heal faster.

I’m excited for the season regardless of what happens next. There’s so much talent that the floor is high enough to keep us from being on the bubble which is fine. The ceiling of this team is ridiculous with a true veteran point guard though which is why it’s been frustrating seeing how this has played out. JW can be good but nothing’s guaranteed between his recovery and eligibility. There’s no way boosters are satisfied right now.

Far better ball handling and passing. Also more strength and I’d say better shooting and definitely more shot creation
Is Sencire getting run off then?

How many non shooters can you play in a rotation? Harris is a phenomenal athlete and will be a lockdown defender but he struggle to handle to the ball and was a putrid shooter. His 20% from the free throw line doesn't suggest a ton of upside unless something drastic changes.

Rodgers shot 38.7% from the free throw line and didnt attempt a 3pt shot all season. Dainja shot 52% from the line. Williams is a 63% ft shooter for his career.

You can have one guy out there that can't shoot but having 2 on the floor at the same time is going to kill your offense because the defense can cheat off guys so much.

I’m cautiously optimistic and like his game, but you can’t blame folks for being nervous about this one — Achilles is about as bad as it gets, injury-wise.
Yet everyone wanted Adam Miller back after his ACL injury too. It's a new age medically. Get the ball to our main guys and we will make it work. And everyone just forgets about Sencire. He's not trash at the point either.

What about Luke? Goode is a good 2 guard, and might even be the equivalent of 2 goode guards.

Some on here are hilarious. We've had an amazing two days. Getting back two all-Big Ten players was better than almost everybody expected early in the process. We lost on a fickle journeyman point guard. Brad and staff will find a great point guard and RayJ will be forgotten.
Yeah, okay… RayJ isn’t Jason Kidd. But we didn’t need him to be. AND for a “journeyman” PG he $ure i$ gonna wind up a well paid one.

Maybe we’ll find a “great” replacement and maybe we won’t.

At some point we have to question if brad is too stubborn for his own good. How can he have watched that team last year and ended up in the same exact spot? He’s not putting his players in the best position to succeed. His players aren’t going to the NBA. He’s not winning in march. At some point… change it up man.
