Last year we got torched by guards from NW, Penn State, and even Iowa.

Our defense won us some games but completely disappeared in others.

I would like to blame MM, Jayden and Skyy since they are gone but realistically our defensive scheme got exposed by certain types of teams.

This team is not a final four contender. However if we can finish to top 3 of B10 and get a #3 or #4 seed I will be happy.

Unless we have All Americans like Ayo and Kofi on roster we are not going to FF.

JFC, I'll stack our fanbase against anyone's.

in case you're wondering, I mean that in the worst way
I feel like it's okay to be frustrated by the glaringly large PG shaped hole in our roster. BU has done an extremely bad job of filling that hole this offseason. I don't really see any other way to describe it. Fans can definitely be annoyed at that.

We earned that right by watching our "offense" last season sputter into heroball, contested 3s, and the worst 3pt shooting % in the Big Ten, let alone one of the worst in the country at #329/352. There's 0 indication it's gonna be any different this season.

“Afraid of a Mayer redux”

Which is funny, because with no Mayer last year this wasn’t a tourney team.
I'll say this- if Brad did his due diligence and reached out to those close to Kerr and based on his findings truly believes he won't be coachable and will be a clubhouse cancer, I do think that is legitimate reason not to pursue.

However, word out of the Arizona camp is that Kerr was a fine teammate and not a locker room issue. So if Brad doesn't believe that and doesn't pursue, he better be damn right in Kriisa being a headache next year and our team succeeding despite the PG situation.

Because if he isn't right, he'll rightfully be roasted alive by the fanbase, as getting a skilled player that fills a critical need on your team to buy in is part of coaching. For his sake and ours, I hope he's right, because if not, what a lost season

Sean Miller isn’t coming to Illinois he doesn’t want the job.

Whitmans press conference praised Underwood and all he’s done with this program,
Whitman doesn’t measure success in the month of March.

Krissa or mulcahy won’t be coming to the Illini. They took a chance on Williams so they could have him if the gambling blew over at ISU but it didn’t. 2 open scholarships to fill.
@Indy Illini Fan says differently (or at least, I *thought* he did).

Well, I was in the camp of IF healthy, Williams could be a solid PG option for us next year and I’ll be a man and eat my crow. Here’s to hoping him leaving leads to something better.

last season was disappointing and frustrating, no doubt.
this offseason has been a lot of good, offset by one key bad
it's June, the roster isn't set, the die isn't cast (and, FWLIW, I think Rodgers can run the show...he didn't show it last season, but he's a pretty gifted distributor)
the negativity level is pretty doggone high. I fully get the concern, but some fans are over the top with negativity, considering it's flipping June

Well, it's what we're left with. Do you want to sleep at night? Worry away.

it's all been poorly handled. So at this point you just hope for the best.
In my opinion, BU failed to address 2 of the 3 important issues this off-season. The one success he had was getting two late second round picks back. He did not address the lack of a good offensive scheme. BU’s teams do not historically move the ball or move without the ball well. When you watch Indiana or Iowa or Wisconsin, they move. PG is the other miss. This team has talent, have competitive NIL $, and there are minutes to be earned at PG. If this team fails to fill that position and we are a first weekend flop this year, BU will be gone. He himself lectured us about the importance of guard plant in college BB. Yet, we are weak in this area again. I’m not sure what the staff is saying to wings that they like but whatever it is, PGs don’t like it.

We can joke about BU yelling and acting like it is a non issue. It is an issue. When BU jumped on Epps and Epps tried to walk away Brad grabbed him. Very bad. Nobody wants that much tough love.

As a business owner, former basketball player, and a small time basketball coach, I do not believe BU has the skills to get the Illini to the next level. Very common in business. His skills that got us here are tremendous but not the skills we need to compete for national titles. I’m on record saying this is BUs last year with the Illini unless we make a deep run. For what it is worth, I am grateful for all BU has done for the Illini. I also hope I’m wrong. I think an instate PG could have joined a PG less, talented team. This staff could not close the deal!

Sean would be interested in the job … For the right money of course …

But Hubert’s tenure looks like it could be done with another bad year at UNC … How many more years does Self have ? Cal sure hasn’t got UK fans inspired it’ll be a good year this year … How many more years does Izzo have left ? All those jobs will be coming open sooner rather than later … And they will all want Sean …

Whitman is right … Brad has done a lot …

However if you think Whitman is happy about where things are at … You've got another thing coming … He is not happy …

Whitman isn’t going to just go blast to the media that it’s make or break for Brad … Why would he do that ? He’s going to inspire that he has faith in Brad and he does … Until Brad gives him a reason not to and that’s when he will decide to make a change … Brad knows what the expectations are … Failure to meet expectations only ends one way …
