There is no evidence whatsoever that Kerr would be a "Team cancer.
He is by all accounts a great teammate and does not wish to shoot 15x per game. His career stats while at Zona are on espn. I will always remember when he was cold in 1st half at our House! Then in 2nd half pushed them over the top with double digits in 2nd half. I was quite frankly shocked they beat us on our court. Final note, Sean Miller is a ScUM Bag and will never be an Illini head coach. I believe Whitman prefers not to sale his soul!

Straight from the horses mouth. I agree with the frustrations from fans. However BU is a great coach we are lucky to have him and y’all better get comfortable with him if you’re not already. Illini will try and hunt down a PG if they don’t Ty and Harris will share the role. We are in a better spot then most think

In his annual media roundtable discussion, Illinois athletics director Josh Whitman made it clear that his barometer of success with the men’s basketball program and head coach Brad Underwood has not and will not ever be dictated by NCAA Tournament success or failure.

Ok I have to ask….

At what point is it unfair to Brad that his boss is grooming Sean Miller? If my boss was flirting with my replacement and spending a lot of time with him for 6 months while also being pressured to perform… it’d probably get on my nerves quite a bit and I too would become stubborn …. Just a thought.

Probably when I, as a subordinate, stop openly flirting with other opportunities that would necessitate a replacement?

NBA players are getting drafted based on tools and projections on how their game will translate to the NBA level not how good they are in college. Plenty of guys get drafted early that were never great college players.

On the other hand you have Drew Timme who is probably the best college player in recent memory and went undrafted. You also saw Tshiebwe, Council, Sanogo, and Tubelis all go undrafted.

The best team in Illini history that nearly went undefeated and won the Nation championship only had one good NBA player in Deron.
Luther Head was a good NBA player. He led the league in made threes one year, lets not sell him short. But, I do agree with everything else you said.

Lou Henson first 5 years. And coach Lou had Jimmy Collins to go to Chicago
Tony Yates. Jimmy Collins was later. Yates recruited Audie Matthews, Nate Williams, and Mike Washington for Gene Bartow. Then Levi Cobb, Eddie Johnson, Reno Gray, George Montgomery, Efrem Winters, and Ken Norman for Henson..

Fans forget how darn awesome Lon Kruger was, after coach Henson. He had been hugely successful at Florida, then joined us. He signed 3 Illinois basketball players of the year in, Sergio McClain, Frank Williams, Brian Cook, not to mention Marcus Griffith, and Cory Bradford. And my heart broke, he went to the NBA. Why? AD maybe? They bring in Coach Self and his first year with Loaded roster goes to elite 8. The legend is born. Rightfully so, he kept it going and man did he assemble an assistant coaching staff. Billy the recruiter Gillespie, norm Robert's, Tim Jankovich, etc. Long list.

Wow, memories big George Montgomery, Kenny the snake Norman, Eddie Johnson, and efrem winters. I have always thought and stated. If coach Henson hadn't been stuck. On not playing young players over the older ones. He would have won titles. Especially "89", in regard to waiting on playing Marcus Liberty. Now I would take Marcus as our Point Guard this year. 😆 🤣

Coach Kruger won 1 big10 title out of 4 years made NCAA tournament 3 out of 4. Coming out of Illini Probation. He also laid the foundation in a huge massive way for Coach Self.
The 2 years of probation had been 4 years earlier. Henson made postseason 4 straight seasons after probation; three NCAA and one NIT.

Lon was not highly successful at Florida. He had one great, 3 fair, and 2 bad seasons there.
104–80 (.565)51–47 (.520)

Too bad he didn't start Eddie Johnson, Derek Harper, Bruce Douglas, Efrem Winters, Nick Anderson, Richard Keene, Kiwane Harris et al their first year eligible. /s

Marcus started 24 games, averaged over 20 mpg his first year eligible in 1988/89.

Gawd what a train wreck! How does this even happen?!?!?!
This wreaks of a rash move made by the staff after the RayJDennis fallout that completely imploded. What a failure of epic proportions unless they manage to get Kriisa or Mulcahy. Is Ty Rodgers really a point guard? Is this what we're relying on for next season? Or are we relying on the underdog from Italia in Moretti?

I know Kriisa doesn't have the most likable personality but based on what both his coach has said and what an Arizona insider has said, he was a good teammate and had no locker room issues. Now if Brad were to identify otherwise, that does change things and that would be an understandable pass. But thus far there has been no credible information out of Arizona he's a headache or a clubhouse cancer. So just food for thought there.
Lucas Johnson also wasn't the most likeable personality outside of this school. But, Illini Nation loved him. I would probably say Kerr is a better version of Curbelo. I'd take that

Looking at his stats. He was actually better than I remember. Actually a pretty solid first two years then slid back into more of just a bit bench shooter role. Still had a 7 year career though.
