It was brought up back then.. and I believe even after he committed and played on Team USAOh, oh. I have absolutely zero recollection of this.

Stoked to have him for the next four years! Man, he is going to be a beast by his senior year!
You talking senior year of HS?? Cause I seriously doubt he'll be here 4 years.Stoked to have him for the next four years! Man, he is going to be a beast by his senior year!
LMAOThe nepotism isn’t helping his cause imo
That opening of the game with the alley-op slam, my goodness!
Um. It's worse than that. They also had Melvin Bell who is a top 100 recruit in 25 and was the number 1 ranked recruit in Illinois from that class until he transfer to La Lumiere this summer. How did St Rita’s not do better last year with three players getting legit D1 attention?
I am interested to see how Brock Harding does at Iowa
Brad straight up pissed in Indy’s cheerios at some point.

I wouldn’t say pissed in my cheerios … But the explanations lately regarding decisions … I’m not exactly thrilled with …
Continuing to promote his own kid doesn’t help his case with anyone … Especially the boosters …
It’s the constant stubbornness that infuriates people … Not necessarily just me either …
Like you miss on RayJ … Okay, fine … Stuff happened … Whatever … The refusal to go after ANYONE else when there are good options available is baffling …
Now when the opportunity comes to add 2 more assistants … He promotes his own kid and a guy whose biggest job before coming here was being the video coordinator for the Indiana Fever … And since he’s been here with his great “offensive scheme” … It’s been nothing but that we’ve scrapped every year … Those are just the facts …
Meanwhile … Nate Oats hired Preston Murphy who’s an elite recruiter and has already landed a kid after being employed only 24 hours … Bryce Drew got the top recruiter at Wyoming to come to GCU for one of his spots … Hurley has Irvin and Irvin obviously got Ace to come there along with Shawn Phillips … Using those 2 new assistant spots to tap in to new connections is a major advantage that Brad refused to take advantage of …
Once again Brad being stubborn and promoting his own kid when he could’ve hired someone like an AAU program director like Ryan Owens like Shrews did and tapped into his connections recruiting wise … Penny tapped into Andy Bormans connections with the NY Rens …
I just don’t like some decisions that are being made the only answer I’m getting is how we didn’t need a PG anyways and that Tyler is better than anyone else we could’ve got … I don’t have anything against Tyler in the role he was in … But when I know for a fact some of the guys that would’ve been interested … That’s frustrating …
Morez ain’t gonna be here 4 years …
Sure. But that's one of the biggest "if"'s in the sporting world right there.
Reply is in line. See above.

I hope you’re right, but with NBA going off of potential I could see him being a one and done if he keeps progressing the way he has been. The kid is hungry, a hard worker, and just gets results.2 years, most likely.
Just curious. So if his last name wasnt Underwood there wouldnt be an issue with it?Bringing in family is bad for a small private company. When you do it for a public and booster funded organization it's much worse.
I'm not saying it's not true. My concern is that I have no recollection of it.It was brought up back then.. and I believe even after he committed and played on Team USA

Last season in an after game press conference with Shannon and Rogers , Shannon told Rogers a couple times that he was a one.Oh, oh. I have absolutely zero recollection of this.
Let me put on my orange tinted glasses here for a sec. Maybe it'll be nice to have a PG that lasts more than a year, recruiting a Krisa or Mulcahy benefits us this upcoming season, but sticking with DGL and Ty will benefit us greater in 2 years with needed consistency for a change. Ok I'll take my glasses off now.All valid observations.
I was not aware of BU promoting his kid.
Agree it is questionable if we had better options.
But I do seem to recall that Tyler had a friend who had data that convinced Underwood to scrap the crappy defense he brought from the SFA level we had been playing.
It didn't work at OSU and I had college coaches tell me it would not work at this level in BT either.
Maybe should have hired Tyler's buddy.
Honestly, I liked the heavy perimeter pressure d he played at SFA. The issue with it at Illinois was that he really didn't have good enough athletes to play like that until this past year. All valid observations.

Sencire, Ty, Goode, TSJ and CoHawk. I'm looking forward to seeing that defensive lineup on the floor. I would guess they could give nightmares to any team in the country.Honestly, I liked the heavy perimeter pressure d he played at SFA. I've always enjoyed watching the extremely pressure heavy teams like the 40 minutes of hell Arkansas teams, Pitino's Louisville teams, Shaka Smarts Havoc, press Virginia, these last few years of Tenn teams, etc.
You really have to have the right players to run that type of defense though. Honestly, this year's team is actually fairly well equipped to run a defense like that with a ton of length and athleticism. Harmon, Shannon, Domask, Rodgers, Hawkins, Harris, Goode, Guerrier, DGL, and Hansberry might be enough depth to do it(Dain isn't athletic enough to play like that). Though realistically I don't think either Shannon or Coleman have enough dawg in them to play that style.
JMO but I wouldn’t be a fan of bringing in a coach with past recruiting violations from an FBI sting operation or an AAU director to get maybe a season of leverage with recruiting. Besides point guard, recruiting has been a strength. I get trying to recruit a better x & o’s guy but first you’d have to acknowledge that you have a weakness there. I could see Underwood not admitting that but that’s where Whitman needs to step in and be more assertive about changes that need to be made if he felt that it was necessary with these two positions.Once again Brad being stubborn and promoting his own kid when he could’ve hired someone like an AAU program director like Ryan Owens like Shrews did and tapped into his connections recruiting wise … Penny tapped into Andy Bormans connections with the NY Rens …

DGL and Ty will be gone anyway after this season because why not and mulcahy would have won us a ship this season, and Brad will get fired long before he has a chance to coach that second season. Get it together Brad!
