Bruh.......last year we had lost Kofi, Grandison, Trent, Damonte, Curbelo, Plummer, Podz .......by all accounts had a disappointing season/finish but still finished top 40 in kenpom, top half of the B1G, and comfortably made the tourney.

Methinks we'll survive if Goode leaves lmao
Sweet. I thought I only had to hear Bruh when my kids were around telling me what’s what

JMO - the success that transfer portal recruits like Alfonso, TSJ, Marcus, Quincy, and Justin have had combined with good NIL program and friendly admission department should make Illinois attractive to anybody in portal this year. Even Matthew Meyer could not complain - he was starter and got opportunity to go crazy in national TV game vs Texas.

Come to Illinois
- playing time
- program always contending for B10 title
- program has made NCAA every year
- NBA style offense and pace of play
- Rabid fan base
- Great strength and conditioning coach
- great TV NBA exposure in B10
- Brad will demand you play well

We did not get RayJ but are on equivelent level to Baylor where he went
Baylor #11 22-8 Illinois #12 22-7

Hard to believe we are back after the Weber downturn, Groce mediocrity, and rough first 2 years while Brad was rebuilding

Sommerville: 32 pts. 12 reb.
Johnson: 12 pt. 11 reb.
Richwoods 58, Thornton 52.
I was at the game. Every time Morez got the ball the defense surrounded him. Every time Sommerville got the ball the defense cleared out and let him play one on one. Morez got his first foul 30 seconds in and played tentatively then got his 2nd foul at the end of the 1st qtr and sat out the entire 2nd qtr. With under a minute to go and trailing by 2 Thornton stole the ball 3 times and turned it right back over all 3 times.

The atmosphere in Kingman Gymnasium in Ottawa was electric! Extremely LOUD!!

Sommerville was a force. Rez, unfortunately, was in foul trouble early and spent most of the first half on the bench. He didn't really get it going until halfway through the 4th quarter. Came close to getting it tied up in the final seconds but fell just short. It was a great, very high level HS basketball game. Looking forward to seeing those guys battle each other in the B1G next year. Also, I think the final score was a 4 point loss, not 6 points...

I see Luwdoo beat me to it! Tai needed to call TO when they got those steals at the end and set up a play, JMHO...Kingman is a special place to see a game.

Sommerville 6'9" 240 headed to Rutgers. They have a ridiculous freshman class coming in next year. I think the #3 and #5 recruit in Nation. Should be interesting if old Kentucky model of young talent will make Rutgers good. Transfer portal seems to give older teams advantage while the HS All American are on and done

It's going to be wild. You'd be talking about what....5 to 6 transfers to fill out the roster plus the freshmen class obviously. 2 to 3 of those guys would have to be of the All Conference variety. To do that, then establish his culture(which can be difficult ), then establish chemistry....that'd be one heck of a job.

The only glue guy would be Ty, right?

I'd love to focus on this after we're cutting down a few nets this year.

Goode is averaging 3pt/2rb his last six games. And my guess is his +/- is not above zero.

No one is depending on him next year. I don't know if he stays or goes but does it matter? Someone will end up taking his minutes regardless without a considerable offseason improvement.

Again, it's not a matter of depending on him. It's a matter of adding yet another transfer. Coming back we'll have Harris, Rodgers, Moretti.......?

We'll definitely be able to sell playing time!

That said, we're putting the cart WAY before the horse. Maybe both DD and LG stay, then we're back to only needing a couple of transfers.

This is a total hockey line change of a basketball roster.

Kingman is a pretty cool old gym. Always loved playing there.

Also saw Shawn Livingston play there when I was a kid.

If a kid is from Evansville, and you don't even mention that Evansville is the hometown of Don Mattingly, can you even call yourself a reporter?
