Both of them have similar games,Morez is more athletic, and from watching Summerville he needs better conditioning cause he can’t run up and down the court. I will rather have a mobile 5 with consistent outside shots to complement our style of play.
Fair enough. Looking forward to seeing what we bring in from the portal as to bigs.

Somerville from Peoria Richwoods would of been a nice big man get. Instead we get to play against his services at Rutgers.
I understand the concern. The high profile win vs Thornton really elevated his appeal as a player/recruit. Sommerville finished with 18 but didn’t look great today. But dude is 6’10”. Boards and points are gonna come eventually in IL HS basketball if you’re halfway coordinated at that size. Ty averaged 15.3 at Thornton and had multiple 20 point games. You’ve seen how that scoring has translated. And that’s nothing against Ty but I’ll bet against the recency bias for the Sommerville/Morez matchup.

Certain skillsets pass the eye test as far as translating to the college game. Borderline 5-star and IL Mr. Basketball Adam Miller comes to mind. Skyy Clark with basically the same credentials as well. Really liked those gets at first but we’ve seen how that’s worked out for them even w/out playing for the O&B. Feasted on low level teams early but relegated to standing in the corner and hitting threes or needed high volume for a decent scoring night.

I’ll take Morez any day. Absolute workhorse that is loyal, coachable, and constantly improving his game.

Could Dante Maddox, Jr.--guard at Toledo and Chicago Bloom HS alum--be next year's Justin Harmon as a fifth year transfer? (Also reminds of our pursuit of another Toledo guard last off-season.)

Makes threes (41%) and free throws (85%) at good clips, to support averages of 15.5 points, 3 assists, 4 rebounds and 1.3 steals for a winning program.

Just got home from watching Toledo win their 4th MAC Title in a row...first time since Cincinnati did it in the late 40s. Quick little sidebar before I get to my scouting report on Maddox, Jr. Coach Todd Kowalczyk is one of the best & most underrated coaches in the country. Only reason he hasn't gotten more publicity is they have struggled in the tourney and missed the NCAA tourney. UT is one of the best and most consistent mid-majors in the country. But I digress.

Regarding, Maddox, JR...dude is an absolute athletic FREAK. He was throwing down some crazy dunks in pre-game. Looked a little smaller than 6'2", but he's pretty jacked. Played very physical, good handles, great-looking shot (he was 4-8 from 3). Got a little sloppy on both ends of the floor and forced some bad shots...took a couple ill-advised beyond-NBA 3s. Don't think he'd be a star, but because of his athleticism and shooting ability, I do think his talents would translate to the B1G. And he's definitely got some swagger to his game. Feels like he could be a Harmon-type role player with a little better shot. Not sure if we're going to go after him, but feels like we could do a lot worse.

I apologize if this topic has been covered before. I read a little about Bryce Heard, a 2025 guard from Flossmoor. His grandfather is the late Ron Dunlap , an Illini involved in the slush fund scandal from the ‘60s. When you read about the ”scandal” in comparison to today, it makes you want to laugh (or cry). Sorry no link. I found it on Wikipedia.

He is certainly talented, but his antics on the court are often quite immature. He has a ton of passion, I’m not sure how he translates as an “everyday guy”.
