Sorry. If the kid got a 1.8M offer and is being told he'll be able to play on gbs perimeter, don't let the door hit you in the way out. We had absolutely no interior presence outside of Morez and now he wants to take that part of his game and extend it 18 feet. No thanks. I saw enough of that last year. I support Brad in pulling the plug. This team was soft as Charmin last year. That can't continue. Good luck to Morez. Hope he gets what he's being promised and hope he can actually succeed at it.This isn’t just about money … This whole thing started WAY before this week …
Morez has been committed since he was freaking 16 basically … He gets here and you freaking start Ben Hum Brick House over him ???? UNACCEPTABLE …
It’s not like we’re talking about Domask here … Ben brings absolutely nothing to the table … He’s not a Big Ten player … Yet Brad continued to trot him out there … DUMB …
This crap is on Brad …
It amazes me how much of a leash KJ had when he made unforced errors. I do not think Morez should be shooting threes unless he is over a 30% shooter. However I am ok with a mid range shot if he followed his missesFrom Fighting Illini Facebook group:

Now that it's official, here's what has transpired. On Wednesday, I received a phone call from Morez Johnson Jr. We talked for 10 minutes before he brought his dad into the conversation. Here’s what took place.
Morez and his dad were genuinely upset with how Illinois used him as a player. In Morez Jr. words:
"Mr. Prince, I am not just a guy who can rebound, set picks, and dunk. I am more than that, but the person running the offense didn’t believe in me. No matter how many times I showed it in practice, it wasn’t enough. I can't allow my career to end up like Kofi (Cockburn) and Dain Dainja. Their development was hindered. If you remember, Kofi was asking to do more, but they wouldn’t let him. Look at the year Dain had, tell me they couldn’t have used that this season."
I replied by encouraging him to talk to the coaches and urged him to be patient.
Morez Sr. then added:
"No, we're not doing that. We played 30 games here, we know what they think of my son. Go back and look at the Kentucky game, KP. My son took his first mid-range shot of the season, missed it, and was immediately taken out. He sat for the next 9 or 10 minutes. They told Tomislav Ivisic to come back, and the offense ran through him again. Look at how they used the Gibbs boy, he could score, but they had him sit in the corner. Or Tre, he couldn't shoot mid-range shots only threes. Or Ty Rodgers, he can shoot, but they didn’t let him. I can’t put my son in that position again. We respect Coach Underwood, it’s not him he's a great coach, but he doesn’t control the offense."
Morez has received some bad advice from someone, which could lead to a poor decision if he ends up at a particular destination. He has already been offered $1.8 million. I’ll add more details as questions arise.
It's Ked, so take it with a grain of salt. But also, it does loosely track with what @Indy Illini Fan has said.Pretty damning

Yes, and that was coming off quality games against Arkansas and Alabama. When returning to conference play after NW He went on a stretch in the B1G looking back to being good (Oregon, PSU, USC)Really? Who is being a revisionist. Ben had a poor game against NU...couldn't rebound or defend, he was targeted by NUs offense.
Ben had a hard time against higher div 1 teams, such as BIG opponents. Was going to be tough to keep TA recruits. not playing him as much didn't help.
Morez thinks he's Jokic, apparently. From Fighting Illini Facebook group:

THIS.Agreed!! I really grew to like Morez and rooted for him , but jeez did he underwhelm in my book. Expected a lot more from a player as physically developed as Morez who was Mr. Basketball in Illinois. Dainja is significantly more skilled - great footwork, moves, passing and motor. He just can’t dunk as well. I will miss Morez bc I liked him, but not an irreplaceable loss.
This.Ding ding ding. I think this is the winner.
Brad is old school, kind of a hard !!!, and I don't think he endears himself well to his players. In his defense, I don't think he sees that as his role. I think that speaks to the NIL world leaving him behind a little bit.
To those downplaying the impact that playing Ben over Morez had, I really want some of what you're smoking. That was bar none one of the dumbest things I've ever seen at IL. He finally figured it out and then started Will but good gawd man, what are you watching? If you are basing the decision on some analytics that somehow say Ben should get those minutes, I'd throw your entire data collection system in the nearest pond. Morez could see it, fans could see it, and Brad just continued trotting Ben out there. Unfathomable.
I respect this opinion but it was quite obvious against Northwestern in December that we win that game if Rez had gotten more of Ben’s minutes.I mean if you look at Ben until January, there was no reason for Morez to play over him? Revisionist history is crazy here. The turning point was the MSU game and after that Morez got nearly 25 mpg average
Hate hate hate.
Scummy.
But he can shoot 3 point shots... so the staff wants him (you know, like Ben H). Too bad if in the process we lose guys like Dain, Morez, and Ty... Fire away... Mind you, they can't play any d at all... But no worriesWho cares...
He's not a Rez level player.
I agree, but Ben had a quite good start to the season outside of that game. He then went in a cold stretch after, (Morez wasn’t exactly putting up world beater stats at this point either), and then looked really good starting in the west coast stretch up to the MSU game. After that, Morez got plenty of tick. Is Morez feeling that disrespected for not getting tick in the time between the NW and Oregon game that it warrants transferring?I respect this opinion but it was quite obvious against Northwestern in December that we win that game if Rez had gotten more of Ben’s minutes.
Huh? Josh Dix is very good at. 51% from the field, 3 year shooter over 40% from 3, 2.8 assist to .08 turnovers, nearly 15 a game. 6'6" guard who can really score in 3 levels and KU and UK both are interested. He is good.Who cares...
