Unfortunately prevent D is a staple in all levels of football. We’ll see it again. Maybe next week!coach walters definitely a promising young coach but still learning.. doubt you see the prevent D from us ever again.
Our defense has really surprised me this season (Coach Walkers seems to be the real deal and we're lucky to have him because I think he'll be a head coach sooner than later). We had an unbelievable number of drops tonight of balls that were right in their hands. Beatty will be seeing more action in the future. I think he has two catches this season in two targets, both for first downs if I recall correctly. Tommy also had too many throws well behind the receiver but that's all stuff we can clean up. Agree that the defense didn't make a big play on that last drive, but they did a hell of a job the rest of the game. I'm satisfied if we only give up 23/game but we need to score more than 20. Should have had about 31.
Yep. After the missed replay they still could have run the ball twice when they had 3rd and 2 instead of calling that rb pass and then kicking the field goal.I find it interesting that this classic type "Illinois" football loss continues through the years regardless of coaches in place.
Everyone is saying this, but we also got burned on a blitz that drive for their biggest gainer.Unfortunately prevent D is a staple in all levels of football. We’ll see it again. Maybe next week!
agree. just so frustrating and it gave me terrible flash backs of last season where we gave away key close games to Big Ten opponents. So many mistakes. Can’t do that on the road.
My problem is that I can see that Bielema is clearly far and away the best coach we’ve had since Zook, and yet this still happens to us.I find it interesting that this classic type "Illinois" football loss continues through the years regardless of coaches in place.
When the game ended NL # 3 came up to me and put her arms around me and said nothing ............she just hugged me tight and told me she loved me......I need to go hangout with Pru after watching that for 4 hours
1. Because we're IllinoisCouple of questions. Why were we snapping the ball with 15 seconds left on the clock on our offensive possession which gave Indiana 2 minutes plus to make their comeback? Why d8d the officials pick up theflag on the play where we had 16 players onthefield?
Usually they’re based on talent discrepancies. In my opinion, this was failing to make plays and making too many mistakes. This can be cleaned upMy problem is that I can see that Bielema is clearly far and away the best coach we’ve had since Zook, and yet this still happens to us.
classy postIndiana fan here. Illinois is the better team. Indiana will lose alot of games because the offensive line and defensive line are not good. We have a few playmakers on offense and defense, but if Illinois figures out Red Zone offense…they win the game by 14 regardless of the bad call on the TD. Im used to losing games like this, but I think if you guys figure out that one aspect of the game…watch out!
In the Big Ten…you have to step on the neck or you will lose, even to us. But, our defense did the bend, dont break. Proud of their fight I guess.
True, but could have been 27!450 total yards....29 first downs...only got 20 points out of it. Not good Bob.
Ah, thank you.1. Because we're Illinois
2. Offense made a substitution but the refs didn't allow the defense enough time to counter.
I still think the angle is tricky, but damn...
Wow. I knew it was close, but that's clearly wide right.
You can blitz and still play prevent D. Did you see the huge cushion we were giving the receivers? That’s the prevent D I’m referring.Everyone is saying this, but we also got burned on a blitz that drive for their biggest gainer.
All that really happened was the IU QB threw a string of accurate throws for the first time all game.
Angles cause so many issues here on LoyaltyI still think the angle is tricky, but damn...
I mean you literally can't but whatever. You can blitz and still play prevent D.
