All of these negative comments about JCL are hilarious and flat out distasteful! Some of the snobby & over-privileged members of our fan base, really crack me up! In all seriousness, some of these NBA level scouts on here should really be getting paid for their top-notch evaluations!!

All you Annie's on here should take a second to think that we just lost a top-notch sophmore with uber talent, incredible intangibles, and an integrity & character that brought about a winning attiitude off the court! Some of you want to act like we're not losing anything, but the truth is, your piss poor if you could even think that way and you make me sick!

How many of you have said anything about Leron? Huh?! There's someone who has vastly underperformed up to his ranking, and not a single person better not say different! I get so tired of people hyping up a player or seeing all the positives of a player through orange-colored glasses when he's on our team, or committed, but as soon as they're gone, you trash them and act like they were nothing!

Leron has only excelled in one area, and that's rebounding. His shot is a nice work in progress, but he did absolutely NOTHING his freshman year while JCL was setting a freshman record for 3pointers made! And I guarantee you, that if Leron had transferred and JCL had stayed, we would have a bunch of Nancy's & Annie's running around here saying how Leron was not a big loss...

So please, just knock it off!!

Leron would be a much bigger loss than JCL.

Is that you, Jalen?

In all seriousness though, I think most of the people on here agree that JCL is a stand-out individual and we are not attacking him personally. If I look at his play last year, I have trouble seeing much progress. His stats were worse than his freshman year and his defensive skills clearly were lacking. Was the rest of the team perfect? Absolutely not. Groce's teams consistently underplayed compared to their rankings.

If the rumors are true, and Underwood told him that he wasn't going to see much playing time, JCL had two options. Transfer, or work hard and develop the skills that BU wanted to see in him. JCL chose to transfer. There's no shame in that. Underwood's coaching style is not everyone's cup of tea. He makes Frank Martin look like a teddy bear.

Am I sad to see JCL leave? Of course I am, but let's be honest here: he's not a transcendent talent that can carry a program to a Final Four. I'd say that about any of the players we lost, or anyone else on the team last year. If he thinks he's an NBA caliber player, good luck to him. He'll need to work hard the next couple of years. He's got the 3 point shot, now he just needs to work on defense, ball-handling, and scoring in other ways.

As a piece of advice: you're never going to change the opinions of random people on an internet forum. Don't bother trying, and you'll be a lot happier.

I do want to point out that a few months ago the narrative on here was that Groce was a poor coach unable to develop top talent like JCL, now the narrative is that JCL doesn't want to work hard to get better?

No wonder JCL committed to Groce ;)

Being a poor teacher and being an unwilling student aren't mutually exclusive...

Intangibles such as not playing defense, showing up late, and skipping workouts? The only thing he could do was shoot threes...

Why do facts necessarily have to be a narrative? The facts are he was skipping workouts and such and was rated low by the new coach. Let him go and move on. He wasn't going to see the floor much anyway.

The two are not mutually exclusive. I honestly have no idea what happened behind the scenes between BU and JCL, so I won't comment on JCL's work ethic. I truly don't know and didn't mean to imply that he didn't want to work and get better. Just meant that he may not have wanted to work to get better AND play for BU at the same time.

I have seen BU coach up close while he was at SC with Frank Martin. The man is abrasive and demands max effort from his players during practices and games. If It tells you anything: if Martin and BU were a good cop, bad cop routine, Martin was the good cop. If you know anything about Martin, that says a lot. BU demands that you work hard. If a player's highest priority isn't basketball, they may not succeed under BU. From what I've read about JCL, basketball may not be his highest priority. That's not a knock on him. If I'm JCL, why would I play two more years under a guy like BU if I know that professional basketball isn't my future?

No one's going to like seeing negative comments about a good person, but when you put yourself out there, and these guys do, they will be open to evaluation, criticism, and a whole lot of stupid, unfortunately. Trying to shut up the internet is a losing battle.

FWLIW, I think most people see him as a pretty good talent that had the burden of unfulfilled expectations. That comes with any highly ranked recruit on a losing team with a failed coach. I think with few exceptions, posters wish him the best, but wish the coaching change led to a better fit for him. I certainly wish him well.

At the rate things are going, who wants to bet that JCL ends up at Mizzou?

I kid, I kid...

You need to loosen what ever is tight around you. I get you know JCL and are his friend, but please think before you post. This is just an emotional rant. Most think JCL is a great person, others see him as a one-dimensional player. Nothing wrong with people having an opinion on someone.
