Hansberry did not look ready at all for big time basketball today. Hawkins for all his frustrations is still an excellent defender most of the time.

Yeah. Domask looked how I expected him to be and I think he will end up being the secondary scorer this team needs and Goode actually shot the ball well on some volume which is good but someone else needs to show up.
Coleman needs to start being a dirty work type guy instead of being a focal point of the offense. That part of the offense needs to be reworked.

There are times when he might wow you with a play or two on defense but then the offensive side he'll give you plenty of low IQ plays. It's maddening.
So far he is playing his way down the draft boards. I don’t think NBA scouts would be impressed by the tape so far. I know he has the talent, but the maturity and self-control aren’t always there. Still love the dude.
The one hope of this on the roster is DGL (MAYBE Harmon since he played on ball some at Utah Valley but not sure I see it with him). I hope Brad continues to give DGL run. We could really use him with some experience under his belt come March
Pretty good call, but I think Coleman has more tools than Curbelo, and more years in this system, and still can’t put it together consistently.
I'm going to be real for a sec- DGL is raw. Very raw. It is extremely difficult to come into the B10 as a freshman and have success in conference. Yes, you can look good against directional non-con opponents, but I think the people who are expecting a lot from this season are overly hopeful for something that is fairly rare. He seems to have athleticism and drive and that can certainly take him far, but based on what we've seen from him thus far, he's probably going to need a year and an offseason to cook.
DGL has a super high ceiling but tonight was a good heat check against a phenomenal experienced backcourt. I don't have a huge problem with most of his shots but we could've gotten better ones on those possessions. This isn't a loss that is going to hurt us in March, so I think those minutes were worth it.
For Illinois, or for teams seeking a blueprint on how to beat Illinois?
Coleman just is who he is. When you have somebody exhibit the same behavior for three years without showing much of any signs of growth on that front, it's just hard to expect them to do so in that 4th year. Fans like to say he has all the tools, and physically he does have many or at least parts of many, but the mental side is just as important and he's missing that part. And it's not even that uncommon for this to happen- Matt Mayer falls in the same camp. Or if you want to go extreme, someone like Jereme Richmond. It's just how a person is wired. Coleman's Coleman. So like him, hate him, there's just not much one can change about him at this point.
What’s Coleman’s role on the team? I think one of BUs problems is his ”system” requires players to excel simultaneously at too many roles. What would make everyone happy with Coleman? He’s already a great defender, and rebounder. He was top 10 in the B1G last year in 2pt FG%, and assist %.
