Michigan 19, Illinois 17 Postgame

Can someone shoot video of the catch(or lack there of) we are talking about and the Illinois catch that was ruled incomp vs Indiana?
Those two reviews are polar opposites of one another, an interesting comparison.

I'm pretty tolerant of bad calls live, in the moment. It has to be a tough job. But I’m very critical and intolerant of bad replay decisions. Those are inexcusable IMO, and grounds for firing (for incompetence or corruption).

This is a tough one to get over- mostly because Michigan literally did nothing to earn that win- who would you even give the game ball to? The kicker for hitting a 33 yarder? It would have been one thing if they asserted their dominance and drove down and scored in the end-but they really did very little- the officials literally handed them the game

you can win by 10-14 points up there, but you will NEVER win by less than 7 up there
all close games get decided in their favor

Anyone who watches college sports for more than five minutes quickly realizes that there is a favored class of program for which tables are tilted towards in various ways. It happens in roundball, and in the gridiron game. We all know who the Favored Programs are in both sports.

And why is that? Because certain names draw viewers to the television. And viewers means revenue and higher ad-selling rates. It’s a circle-jerk that has fed on itself over the years. Make that decades. Or, forever.

Has anyone noticed that Fox has carried almost the entire schedules of Michigan and ‘the (Oh-Whatevers)’ all season long? Sure, not too many people really want to look at Rutgers or Indiana. BUT this is how the cycle feeds on itself. Young guys coming up see who the Programs of Privilege are... and the guys want in on that exposure and notoriety.

Will this change? No. SO what is the answer?

Crash the glass ceiling, like Illinois basketball has done and Illini football is trying to do now. Become one of the ‘Uppers’ yourself. Because no one is going to help you or do this for you.

The Illini have endured unfair calls and treatment over the years because of the established landscape. But all that is going to change now that the Illini are staking a claim to being a program of significance that the Nation and the Major Corporate Media needs to pay attention to.

At first, no one likes a party-crasher. But after a while and you don’t go away... they have to tolerate that you are there. And then after that, they just accept you as ‘one of the boys’.

Illinois played a great game and could have won. The refs did not cost Illinois the game. Those who saw the 15 yard pass interference call at the end as wrong need to have their eye checked. Yes Colston Loveland should have been called for offensive pass interference for blocking before the pass was released but refs often miss such a particular call. Check the video to see the numerous holds from the Illinois side. Sorry but Illinois does not play clean pass defense. Now Michigan is a run first team and was missing one of its running back duo for the whole game and its Heisman trophy finalist Blake Corum for the second half. It was also missing its tight end. It was also missing its top edge defense person Mike Morris In fact Michigan was missing 30% of its starters for the game. In short Michigan was playing with one arm tied behind its back for the second half. Granted, their receivers dropped some balls and their quarterback did not have a good game, but they made some gutsy fourth down calls near the end and pulled the game out. Illinois payed the best game of their season and wanted it for their coach whose mother passed. Bit when push came to shove they could not stop Michigan in the manner that Michigan stopped them at the end to get the ball back. Say what you like, that is the mark of a championship team.

Mochigan got key calls in their favor, illinois was also not at full strrength and didn’t play their best game of the year. Take that nonesense back to Ann Arbor.

Small bit of info here: Tony Buyniski was actually a video coordinator for Illinois football for several years, so at least we have an "in" there! He would only be responsible for the technology aspect, so no impact on the reviews themselves.
Saw that. He is a Senior Director so presumably would have some input into how the review process is conducted. Can they not set up an area in each stadium with a large screen TV like I have in my living room instead of relying on a 6 inch screen inside a hood on a monopod out on the playing field?

And have it staffed by an expert who is independent from the crew on the field. Mix them up for each game so he’s not part of any officiating crew. This is one place you want NO teamwork, none whatsoever!

The guys on the field can put on headsets to dial into the booth and make their argument based on what they recall and what they see on their little cell phone sized screen, but the independent guy with the huge screen in a dark booth makes the final decision. Otherwise it’s like appealing your case to the original judge or asking your doctor for a second opinion if you have doubts about his first opinion. We need a higher appellate court for an independent review. Note that this would add no time for each review.

And just think, as improbable as it may be, we could actually be playing them again!! Who would like a rematch on a neutral field? Don't all raise your hands at once!

Was at the game and boy did the M fans stop talking smack once we tied the game. More interesting than not, on the no-call 4th and 4 with a minute left in the game we heard the words PICK from several fans clearly........ and no flag............................ that was the biggest break M received. A 4th and 14 would have been tough to overcome! Our sideline was going crazy pointing it out, to no avail.
