Bit did he step on his foot? I'd like to see a replay.

Illinois is notorious for getting rules changed that have unfairly damaged them in games. This could be another

Interesting quote from Izzo: “Wow. Just another day in paradise, I guess. I know I said this before the game and after the game, but I think Illinois is the best TEAM in the league. I am not slighting us, Purdue, or Michigan. I just think they are that built,” Izzo said, per Spartan Shadows. “Brad Underwood is a good coach. The scary thing is they did that without Jakucionis." Love him or hate him, but he ain't wrong. The Illini came thisclose to winning despite facing a perfect storm of uneven (a polite term) officiating, poor three-point shooting, poor free-throw shooting and a technical foul that proved to be the margin of defeat. I don't even mention missed layups any more as that seems to be a feature, not a bug.

There is with respect to a charge vs blocking foul. When the prior poster said KJ's foot was planted I assumed that's what he meant. It's pretty clear from the video he did not have position. He's moving towards the MSU player from behind and to the side and he extends his foot into his path, tripping him.
Not how I saw it. Appears to me to be more of a both putting their foot down in the same spot situation with KJ getting his down first. Normally this is a no call play on with most officials but not when Izzos team is involved.

KJs foot is there - Mich St player moves his foot into his foot and then sells the foul.

If this is a fould(especially ticky tack fouls on the best player on the court - this simply doesnt happen in the modern era) then there should be 250 fouls called a game.

Anyways - national guys, even Sleeper(Cart is a huge MSU fan) are calling the refs out here - while some of you are vehemently defending the refs and Sparty - weird hill to die on.

the game was incredibly poorly officiated. maybe the worst i've seen in ten years.
it seemed that one guy was officiating a different game than the other two. i
don't think i've wondered about a crew taking a bribe in a college game....until
yesterday.

KJ definitely got his foot planted first.

talk about a specific call all you want, the officiating was simply not called at both ends of the court equally.
that adds up over 40 minutes. Was KJ the most aggressive defensive player on the court? obviously not.

rule #1: don't make a call unless you SEE an infraction. no place for assumption/anticipation. yeah, it's a very quick game, calls will be missed. that said, yesterday's game was flippin' egregious

Multiple truths:
-KJ got hosed one at least two of the 5 calls
-Reffing is hard, mistakes happen
-KJ should’ve been more careful at times given his foul situation

At the end of the day, we had more than a shot at winning this game without our best player and (arguably) our second best player dealing with an illness. Riley played extremely well. Morez was a positive as well and I thought Ben played adequate. Boswell cannot be a 15+ min PG, he needs to focus on being less adventurous. White needs to get his mojo back. Maybe we aren’t a good 3 pt shooting team.

This team is the most talented in the BIG and that will not change for the remainder of this year barring injuries.

Might be the rule but I have never seen that called before and I have been watching basketball for over 50 years.

About 10 years ago, UCLA was involved in a play in which the ball went in on the final seconds. Play was close, but likely behind the backboard. Was ruled out of bounds.

I don't ever remember a rule when a player shoots over the backboard it goes to the other team. Is that considered out of bounds? It never touched the backboard so I'm confused how that's MSU's ball.
On the replay, I thought I saw it graze the backboard.

We'll see how the MSU fans respond to their team losing 6 out of their next 8 games.
That's the other part of this missed opportunity. I have no doubt we'll dismantle MSU in Champaign later in the season. But we could have been the first to show that they are way overhyped by beating them at home. Handing #12 their first B1G loss of the season in their place on national TV is a lot bigger deal than beating them later in Champaign after they've already lost a few.

Said before game we needed the version we saw against Oregon, Indiana, Arkansas. Also felt we needed average games from KJ, Tre, Boswell.

We didn't gave Tre or KJ, shot poorly from 3's and free throws. Also missed some layups. Our Bench and rebounding was awesome. Despite all this we lost by 2. KJ plays 25+ minutes we win by 10.

We had the talent, they had the crowd and the refs.

The funniest part is the all the Michigan St fans going on and on about how the 4th foul was so clearly KJ grabbing the arm. Even though the Mich St extended his full arm into KJ pushing him to the ground. The other fouls were minor and if was Mich St jersey the whistled is getting swallowed.

Brad should start having his guys practice falling after every layup because as we see the refs don't know what's happening and they see a player on a ground and its an instant whistle.

Yes you should win that game based on missed shots and opportunities but going on the road to Mich St that's bound to happen with how they play defense. But to take not just the bet scorer but the primary ball handler is detrimental. I love Kylan but he is not at the level KJ is with this type of pressure.

On to the next .... Illinois by 30 vs Maryland

Any idea if illinois submitted, or plans to submit anything to B10 or NCAA about the obvious calls. Oddly enough, their were few other questionable calls
