Rule 7, Article 3I don't ever remember a rule when a player shoots over the backboard it goes to the other team. Is that considered out of bounds? It never touched the backboard so I'm confused how that's MSU's ball.
Not how I saw it. Appears to me to be more of a both putting their foot down in the same spot situation with KJ getting his down first. Normally this is a no call play on with most officials but not when Izzos team is involved. There is with respect to a charge vs blocking foul. When the prior poster said KJ's foot was planted I assumed that's what he meant. It's pretty clear from the video he did not have position. He's moving towards the MSU player from behind and to the side and he extends his foot into his path, tripping him.
KJs foot is there - Mich St player moves his foot into his foot and then sells the foul.View attachment 39036From a Facebook post
KJ definitely got his foot planted first.vehemently

If this is a fould(especially ticky tack fouls on the best player on the court - this simply doesnt happen in the modern era) then there should be 250 fouls called a game.
Anyways - national guys, even Sleeper(Cart is a huge MSU fan) are calling the refs out here - while some of you are vehemently defending the refs and Sparty - weird hill to die on.
Might be the rule but I have never seen that called before and I have been watching basketball for over 50 years.
the game was incredibly poorly officiated. maybe the worst i've seen in ten years.
it seemed that one guy was officiating a different game than the other two. i
don't think i've wondered about a crew taking a bribe in a college game....until
yesterday.
Yes, that is one of the most hypocritical edifices ever erected by a group.Must be quite the cross for you to bear.![]()
rule #1: don't make a call unless you SEE an infraction. no place for assumption/anticipation. yeah, it's a very quick game, calls will be missed. that said, yesterday's game was flippin' egregious

On the replay, I thought I saw it graze the backboard.I don't ever remember a rule when a player shoots over the backboard it goes to the other team. Is that considered out of bounds? It never touched the backboard so I'm confused how that's MSU's ball.
That's the other part of this missed opportunity. I have no doubt we'll dismantle MSU in Champaign later in the season. But we could have been the first to show that they are way overhyped by beating them at home. Handing #12 their first B1G loss of the season in their place on national TV is a lot bigger deal than beating them later in Champaign after they've already lost a few. We'll see how the MSU fans respond to their team losing 6 out of their next 8 games.
The funniest part is the all the Michigan St fans going on and on about how the 4th foul was so clearly KJ grabbing the arm. Even though the Mich St extended his full arm into KJ pushing him to the ground. The other fouls were minor and if was Mich St jersey the whistled is getting swallowed.
How could anybody not be happy with Brad Underwood as the coach of the ILLINI?!! Everything about him, his approach, his transparency, his style, and obviously the performance creates quite a package for the fans.
