I wish they had also docked him whatever percentage of his salary the 5 games comes to. Maybe hitting his pocketbook would wake him up a bit (although I doubt it).
I think they did $140,000 but that is probably change to him!

Michigan coach Juwan Howard apologized Monday for his actions following his team’s loss to Wisconsin on Sunday.

In a statement released Monday evening, Howard said he was “truly sorry” for how he had behaved in a scuffle during the postgame handshakes. He also apologized to Wisconsin assistant Joe Krabbenhoft, as well as to his players and Michigan fans. Howard added that he had to set a better example for his athletes, that there were no excuses, and that “this mistake will never happen again.”

Took him long enough!!!!!!!!

Who in the PR department wrote it? I would like to see Howard personally make such a statement. I do not believe he could after seeing his reaction in the post game press conference. Would need a body language expert to interpret his real feelings if he were to give such a statement.

Because his publicist is slightly better at writing a statement, after running it by UM’s PR and Legal Departments for their edits, than he is at giving live answers right after it happened.

Had to get back to campus so one of the comp 101 students could draft the statement

Alan Griffin steps on someone and gets 2 games.

Michigan players throw haymakers at Wisconsin players, knock them on their behinds, btw they are extremely lucky not to be bought up on aggravated assault charges...and all they get is one game. One. Effin. Game.

Kevin Warren is a disgrace to commissioners everywhere. He's gotta lose his job ASAP.

1 game suspension for the UM players starting a brawl. Compare that to what happened to what Kofi and Griffin got makes me so angry. Will the NCAA take action as well?

Yea...Griffin steps on an opponent...and 2 games I believe....Kofi sells a few jerseys, which is no longer illegal and gets 3 games...but jump into the middle of a brawl and throw some punches....1 game suspension.....f*@%ing ridiculous....fire everyone in the B10 office that had any part in this peace of sh*t decision.....would love for B10 to justify the reasoning behind the difference in these 3 infractions and the resulting suspensions....I'll hang up and wait for the call
This is quite a relief! The rumor was that the punishment would be Kofi would be suspended for three days and the Illini would be barred from post season.

No the Big Ten. "The Big Ten has suspended Illinois guard Alan Griffin two games after he stepped on Purdue's Sasha Stefanovic on Tuesday midway through the first half of the Illini's victory vs. the Boilermakers. The league reviewed the play and issued the suspension as well as a public reprimand, saying Griffin violated the Big Ten sportsmanship policy."
Apparently, unlike the judicial system, the corrupt Big Ten administration does not believe in precedents. Diabate gets one game?

IMO, what's worse is there has been no statement of remorse for Howard or the University.
Then they get off with a minor hand slap. I think the rest of the season for Howard, 1 for Gard, & 3 games for the players who threw punches.

Maybe the selection committee will do the right thing if Michigan is on the bubble
Are you suggesting they get a #1 seed ???

Agree with first part.

Such statements go through ALL their lawyers

Rather than concerning myself with any other aspect of this, I've decided to root for whatever works out best for Illinois. So a tainted Juwan who likely just lost all the shine that made him formidable staying on, while UM and Kevin Warren receive all the public scorn and disdain that they deserve for this sounds like a win for us in the long run.

This is an incredibly bad decision.

Howard has gotten away with criminal behavior again.

I expect that he will use some sort of weapon (in addition to his hand) next time. And I expect that next time will be next season.
