Was this ever confirmed? I always got the impression that the whole story of "Michigan was going to get TSJ before admissions screwed us" full of scUM copium. I interpreted it as TSJ enjoyed his visit and, being the classy guy he is, got along with Dickinson, who got the impression in his pea brain that TSJ was absolutely coming to Michigan. When that didn't happen, Dickinson ran his mouth on Twitter and thus the whole rumor about admissions was born.

Not saying Dickinson doesn't have a pea brain but it was confirmed by insiders

Seems entirely credible the way Goodman reports it. Makes me wonder how different the culture is now vs the John Beilein days. Bet they'd like him back.
yep, I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree

RE: TSJ
I certainly could be wrong, but my impression was TSJ was not going to clear Michigan's admissions because he hadn't graduated yet from Texas Tech, and at the time MI wasn't accepting any transfers other than true graduate transfers.
They were only gonna take a max number of credits and he would have lost a bunch. That's where the whole talk taking summer classes at Texas Tech so he could grad transfer came from.

Has it ever been confirmed - and I don't know how it would be! - that TSJ was dead set on going to Michigan, though? The entire admissions story could have been 110% true, and he still could have decided to go to his home state school even after getting into Michigan, right?

We may never know for sure if it was a negotiation tactic for NIL$

To be clear, I am perfectly content with the simple fact that he is in orange and blue at the end of the day. Also, I really don't think enough people put an emphasis on the fact that if TSJ continues at this level of play, this staff and program will have two straight NBA-bound studs from Chicago in Ayo and Shannon. That has GOT to be a nice pitch to recruits.

I bet staff is making that pitch 😉

wasn't the long-term expectation for howard to eventually bolt for an NBA HC gig? I wonder how all this drama changes that. On the surface it would seem he's too toxic for NBA team to hire him, but i've seen the NBA do crazier things...

You gotta love the memories of the AH.

Long live the Chief!
They can rename St. Peter's Basilica and I'll still call it St. Peter's Basilica. We're blessed to have a global architectural masterpiece for our basketball arena, and it has an original name that I honor. YMMV. It's not like we play at Jersey Mike's, Value City, or XFinity. Thank goodness. ;)

In a way, but also, not really. Watch basically any of his pressers. He often mentions how soft and entitled players are, how the game has changed (NIL, portal recruiting, style, etc.). It also seems he's not getting the results on the floor he feels he should be getting from his coaching. For these and other reasons, it just seems like a time to ride off into the sunset.
He’s not the only one that thinks the players in basketball, as well as football, are soft and entitled. Amongst them a former Illinois strength coach that moved on to the nfl said that was a huge reason why he left, or rather something he does not miss and is glad to be out of. You’d think the nfl would just speak for itself.

Well, SFC does have "farm" in it. On the other had. Jersey Mike's at Rutgers does have "Jersey" in it. But Value City...?
