You are right that he doesnt owe anything to the people that buy his jerseys, pay for his autograph at signings(nice "AD" for $70), & spend $80+ for a ticket to watch him play a few minutes. He certainly can text on his phone and ignore whoever he wants. My bad.
Okay, Boomer

That's like parents telling me that they have a right to tell me what to teach because they pay taxes. That kind of logic (and those who use it) can get bent.

If someone comes up to me wanting to chit-chat while I'm pre-gaming for a big presentation, they're going to get the cold shoulder as well. The guy's there to do a job first, cater to fans second.
It's really funny how everyone that hasnt been to many NBA games thinks these guys are serious 2 hours before tipoff to the extent that its like "a big presentation". Most are shooting half court shots, joking around, & texting. This game wasnt the Finals by any means.

Whether a person has been to multiple NBA games shouldn't have any bearing on their opinion in this case. If a professional player wants to interact with the fans before the game, they will. If not, then so be it. I seriously don't get Illini fans and their feelings on how Ayo is or is not being used properly by the Bulls. I wonder how many would feel the same way if he had went to any other B1G school or any other P5 school and not played for the Illini at any point.

I’m as big of an Ayo fan as anyone, but I think some people need to realize that at this point Ayo isn’t a particularly good nba player.

The situation he has with the bulls, both in terms of contract and playing time is probably the best that he can realizably hope for unless he improves, which he hasn’t since his rookie year.

Given that Ayo is pretty well known for a tremendous work ethic, it may just be that he has reached his ceiling as a basketball player.

Ayo seems to be very efficient when he’s in games right now. Am I missing something? Why isn’t he getting more than 10 minutes a game? Coby just doesn’t get it done unless he is on fire and takes 16 shots.

It's just the way the Bulls rotation is going right now. Ayo is nowhere near as good a point guard as Coby White and he can't shoot 3s very well which is why he doesn't get playing time off the bench ahead of the guys who can shoot 3s.

Have to disagree. I cringed every time White handled the ball last night; 1/6 on 3s, 4a/3to, -6/33min.Ayo in 11min: 2/3, 1/0, +8. Like to see him get another shot at starting pg.

Going up against a player like Luka isn't easy. Unless Coby gets hurt, I'd be surprised if Ayo gets another shot at PG.

Exactly! Ayo seems to be more effective right now. He doesn’t have the points outburst ability Colby has but I think they should be splitting more minutes

He won't be splitting more minutes. It's not just about Ayo vs. Coby's abilities. Ayo's not even one of the first guards off the bench.

Checked in on Podz since he’s well loved around these parts.

He’s gotten into one game with what I would consider a mediocre stat line.

Caveat: I know nothing about expectations of NBA draftees. Is the 19th pick in the first round expected to be impactful? Or is that like an early 3rd rounder of the NFL draft where it’ll take him a bit to get going?

Anyway, I’m still waiting for him to get in more and see what he does with consistent minutes.

I hope he's a sleeper star. The Panini Prizm Draft picks are out and Podz is only player from Illinois that has a card... But because he surprised everyone in the draft process the autograph cards weren't ready and are redemptions meaning that you have to request it and they will send it to you once the player has provided signatures... Which I suspect are actually sheets of stickers like mailing return labels that are affixed to the cards.

sample size, sample size, sample size

Ayo's riding the bench (and White is playing) largely because of what transpired the second half of last season. Correct call, IMO. For increased minutes, Ayo's gonna have to earn them.
