Tough loss though. Likely seals Nagy's (and probably Pace's) fate at the end of the season.

Nagy and Pace are nearing the end of the line. If they lose to the winless Lions on Thanksgiving, I'd stuff them both in a turkey and leave them there.

The McCaskeys have never fired a coach midseason. The report does not mention Ryan Pace.
Two questions...
1. Why let him coach at all?
2. Are the Bears really going to allow Pace to hire another Coach (his 3rd)?
I can't stand Bears Ownership!
Guys in the know like Tom Waddle and Kaplan have said for the last 2 years Pace is universally loved in that building and he isn't going anywhere. He will be promoted to a different position in the building at worst so his finger prints will still be all over this thing. He's a made man up there and I have no idea why.

Genuinely asking, does anyone have any insight?
Putting it gently, his tenure has been ghastly. A quick track record:
1) First coaching hire: John Fox.
2) First draft pick (Round 1, Pick 7): Kevin White, WR, now out of the league.
3) Second first-round draft pick: Trades up for Mitch Trubisky who is now a backup in Buffalo.
4) Second coaching hire: Matt Nagy.
5) Two wild card losses in the playoffs in 2018 and 2020.
My brain can't comprehend how this resumé can lead to someone to failing upward in an organization.
Fox wasn’t Pace’s hire. Ernie Accorsi recommended both Fox and Pace to the Bears. Pace obviously agreed to take the job with Fox as the coach, but we have no idea if Fox was the guy he would have hired had he had the chance to bring in his own guy.
There’s some question as to how much input and control Fox had in personnel decisions while he was there. Right or wrong, the Bears ownership essentially gave Pace a clean slate after he fired Fox and hired Nagy.
The other thing I haven’t gotten is it doesn’t seem like the offense is geared towards Fields’ strengths. So my question is did Pace discuss Fields with Nagy before taking him to see if he would fit in the offense? Were there conversations about how the offense could be adapted to fit Fields’ strengths? Or were there no conversations at all?

This is the exact same thing that happened with Trubisky.
The amount of times he failed the first time on a position, and was still trusted to get a second shot at fixing it is also really crazy.
Kevin White failed so you have to go out and pay Allen Robinson.
Adam Shaheen failed he goes out and wildly overpays Jimmy Graham and gets another shot to bring in a highly drafted TE in Kmet
Trades up to take Mitch as the first qb in the draft (failed) so he brings in Foles (failed) goes out and pays 10 mil for Dalton who he could have had the year before for 1/5th of the price so now is paying both of those guys.
Leonard Floyd failed so he has to spend top dollar on Robert Quinn.
Doesn't draft any tackles in 6 years then trades up for a guy with a broken back who can't play leaving your brand new franchise qb with no protection.
There is probably more but this being someones resume and just keeping their job is insane, this guy is going to get a PROMOTION.
I listened to Nagy's presser today and it sounded like he knew he was gone. Even when he was asked the question about whether he's been told he'll stay on through the end of the season, he basically dodged the question and said he's just focused on this week's game.
One suggestion I did hear today (in addition to firing Nagy and Pace) was moving Ted Phillips into a Crane Kenney type role having Phillips be the president of business ops (which he's honestly better suited for anyway) and then hiring a president of football ops to oversee the GM and coach.
Another sign we're all getting older when you see someone like Aaron Glenn, who played in the league for almost 15 years, is now an assistant coach in the NFL.
A win is a win, even if it's in an ugly and god awful game like this one.
