Eberflus had an ok resume. Been around awhile and coached under a wide variety of coaches, with a variety of different philosophies. The press is pegging him as a Marinelli/Kiffin Tampa 2 guy.
But Eberflus spent almost 15 years with Pinkel at Toledo and Missouri. Pinkel was a Don James guy who had more of an attacking Bears 46 defense kind of style. Eberflus also coached under Rob Ryan at both Cleveland and Dallas.
So I don’t think Eberflus is as hidebound to a particular scheme as all that.

I'm cautiously optimistic about the hire.
The biggest change on defense is going to be the shift back to 4-3. If Eberflus does end up running a Lovie version of Tampa 2, that puts Roquan likely in the Lance Briggs role of the will linebacker.

Sounds like Packers QB coach and passing game coordinator Luke Getsy is the Bears new OC. Don't know much about this guy but anything to weaken the Packers is fine with me.
I did like Olin Kruetz's suggestion late last week that if Getsy got hired, he should consider bringing Luke Butkus (who was the assistant O-line coach) with him to be o-line coach. That's a moot point now though as it looks like Butkus got promoted up to o-line coach after the previous o-line coach got promoted up to the OC in Green Bay.

Some scuttlebutt now circulating that Matt Nagy may be hired as the new Lions OC.
