Raise your hand if you predicted the Bears offense to put up 33 points on the road (without the benfit of a defensive or special teams score) against a Bill Belicheck squad.

Going into tonight, 1st and 2nd year QBs were 3-45 against Belichick at Foxboro. Tua and Kaep are the only two to win there and Kaep was the only one to win in primetime.

Justin Fields is the guy and I can't be told otherwise. Poles has a bunch of cap space and all of his picks (possibly more coming) get him some weapons.

The Velus Jones pick is an utter disaster. 25 years old can't run routes, cant field punts, and hasn't even been back on kick returns.

Trade news: Robert Quinn traded to the Eagles for a fourth rounder. Think the Bears are eating most of his contract.

For this year, they are yes.

They probably could have gotten more for Quinn had they traded him in the offseason but it is what it is at this point. And 5th round pick Dominique Robinson has looked pretty good thus far.

With this trade happening now, they'll have roughly $134 million in cap space next offseason.

I’ll admit to never fully understanding the salary cap. Obviously they have a lot of money they can spend. But don’t they also have to meet some payroll minimums?

The minimum is basically 89% of the cap.

(It’s more complicated than that. A team can go under for a year, but then has to pay more in later years. But for all practical purposes, it’s 89% of the cap.)

The cap this year is $208mm. The Bears are at $202mm, but are spending a bizarre amount of that cap - almost 40% - on players no longer with the team - Mack, Dalton, Cohen, Graham, and several others. When you add in injured guys, less than 50% of their cap money this year is actually being spent on guys who are actually playing for the Bears.

Wow. That is a shocking number. Thanks for the info.
