Bears grabbed the momentum back right before half. Screw the Zappe magic.
Raise your hand if you predicted the Bears offense to put up 33 points on the road (without the benfit of a defensive or special teams score) against a Bill Belicheck squad.
It is. Also the Bears first victory over the Patriots since 2000 - the year before Brady. Just needed him to finally leave to make it happen.I also think this may be the first time the Bears have ever won at New England.

Yeah but we can’t act like the defense didn’t set them up a bunch of times.Raise your hand if you predicted the Bears offense to put up 33 points on the road (without the benfit of a defensive or special teams score) against a Bill Belicheck squad.
They gained 400 yards of offense. It’s not like the defense was routinely setting them up inside the Patriots 10 yard line. They did on their final drive and ended it by taking a knee on 4th down.Yeah but we can’t act like the defense didn’t set them up a bunch of times.
Too productive lolTrade news: Robert Quinn traded to the Eagles for a fourth rounder. Think the Bears are eating most of his contract.

I’ll admit to never fully understanding the salary cap. Obviously they have a lot of money they can spend. But don’t they also have to meet some payroll minimums? For this year, they are yes.
They probably could have gotten more for Quinn had they traded him in the offseason but it is what it is at this point. And 5th round pick Dominique Robinson has looked pretty good thus far.
With this trade happening now, they'll have roughly $134 million in cap space next offseason.
The minimum is basically 89% of the cap.I’ll admit to never fully understanding the salary cap. Obviously they have a lot of money they can spend. But don’t they also have to meet some payroll minimums?
Wow. That is a shocking number. Thanks for the info. The minimum is basically 89% of the cap.
(It’s more complicated than that. A team can go under for a year, but then has to pay more in later years. But for all practical purposes, it’s 89% of the cap.)
The cap this year is $208mm. The Bears are at $202mm, but are spending a bizarre amount of that cap - almost 40% - on players no longer with the team - Mack, Dalton, Cohen, Graham, and several others. When you add in injured guys, less than 50% of their cap money this year is actually being spent on guys who are actually playing for the Bears.
