Put me in with those who liked a lot of things about the way this team played tonight. FTs, turnovers, shooting, rebounding (which was a plus but no surprise and maybe not big enough), and scoring balance were all plus factors....all negated by Pickett and a hot bunch of shooters. The big question now is how does BU (and the Illini team) keep the same kind of thing from happening in Bloomington, Indiana on Sat. Can they find a way to keep TJD from a Pickett like performance? Highly unlikely at the moment. But this is B1G basketball and nothing is predictable.

Need help, missed watching the game and see the results. Also see Ty went off. How bad was it? Am I going to be depressed watching?

How do you stop Pickett? What have other teams done? Watching the game.he does use his arm to push the defender.

We cannot defend the high screen offense. Started with Loyola in the tournament 2 years ago and it continues today.
Rodgers needed to start over Dainja against this team. Coleman at the 5 lineups so much more effective guarding the PnR, plus lets us get the “flying illini” look in transition. Love Dain, but he gets picked on in PnRs

This team is so up and down

It’s going to be another first weekend exit from the Dance as long as this poor 3 point shooting continues.

Apparently Epps only shoots layups in pratice anymore?
Forget RJs woes at the 3, what happened to Epps?
What!? He missed his 3s tomight and that sucks he was 0 for 7 but 6 for 13and made every other shot while having 0 turnovers. Quit hating on a guy that if he goes down we are totally screwed as our only solid PG
I am old enough to recall folk raising hell about Harper going 1 for 17 in a game but it’s easy to fuss from your recliner! Epps is a stud and likely as valuable to us as anyone right now! He just missed some good shots tonight from three yet he still was 6 for 13

Reading this post game thread shows it is just a continuation of the terrible game thread.........We got beat ........ok , I get it ........

We played very well on offense....
defense was lacking to say the least........
Goode got a three.....RJ got a 3........TSJ got 20 points........
pickett gets away with pushoffs on every play..........
psu set 1 million illegal screens..................
some Illini fans need to learn that his name is Ty RODGERS...........
dj bald head ref is TERRIBLE.............
the other two were just as bad...................

BU on the radio post game .....

we didn't show up....

thats all I can remember or want to remember...................

I think I need to take a few pain meds and take a shower and flush this nightmare down the sewer pipe........

Everything is fine........................goodnight.................

That is ridiculous. Time was run in out and Epps didn’t take one bad three all game. Also while TSJ has taken some at times I didn’t see that tonight. Also did you watch the UCLA game and complain?RJ has shot us awful from3 but the others while they may have not shot great they have not forced many like they once were
. This team lost the first three to start the B10 due to poor schemes but have won 8 out off 21 since. We do need to shoot it better but I’m still optimistic Goode will show something that RJ hasn’t and the fen will continue to improve
Epps is a massive asset and he missed some tonight but he didn’t force anything
! No one did until late
Epps is 4-30 his last 7 games. TSJ is under 30% behind the arc minus the UCLA game. And Hawkins is 28% on the season. No reason those guys are shooting 12+ a game amongst them (or close to that #). Especially when Epps and TSJ can play downhill so well.

This may be the only loss worth watching. PSU and Jaylen Pickett played an almost perfect game for 40 min. Pickett looked like Oscar with 41 pts. and 8 assists. Illini did not play poorly and had 5 in double figures along with 80% FTs and 13 assists with 8 turnovers. Mayer missed 2 of 3 FTs in the last minute or that would have been unbelievable...and DD was 3 for 3 and Ty 1 for 2. PSU raced to a double digit lead buy making seemingly every shot and continued strong shooting to the end. Regardless of a typical Illini defensive effort, nothing could slow them down.

Not much different from the first match up other than we scored 81 this time.

If we see them in the BTT, we're screwed. PSU would be natty contenders if they played us every game.

i think the poster is just saying whats up with epps' 3s lately while acknowledging he was solid on his layups, which is valid bc he is 1-20 in his last 4 games

Kids just goin through a bit of a shooting slump. Awesome player for a freshman though. He'l round back into shooting form, hopefully while staying nails on the finishig at the rim

If Pickett is limited to half his total we win this game. Hats off to a team that barely missed back to back shots the entire game!

I would love to see us try to get Dain more post touches. I know he isn’t Kofi but he is very efficient and a better passer. I know tonight and most nights if I were coaching vs him I wouldn’t want him with the ball in the post. I’d love to see us play inside out with him vs teams where he had the advantages
He is only gonna get better and he shoots it at a very high percentage. It would be fun to see what he can do with 15 shots a game

@Indiana, Minnesota, Northwestern, @Ohio State, Michigan, and finish @Purdue. Since Northwestern was able to beat Purdue, do the Illini finish 1-5 with a win vs. Minnesota, or 6-0? The way they play, I'd say either result is possible. 3-3 sounds about right. No way did I think PSU would win tonight that's for sure.

Statistics might say otherwise, but my eye says that our team is better when our 3 freshman are in. Epps is an offensive genius, Sincere is a defensive menace, and Ty is a grown man.

Win all of our home games and 1 to 2 wins on the road.
