Archie Miller is near term not going anywhere. First off this is a pandemic year with weird results. Secondly, Archie is signed with 100% guaranteed thru 3/2024 and a buyout that is 100% thru 3/2022 plus 50% for two years thereafter. Hoosiers historically don't like to pay for people that aren't working for them. Archie is there for at least another year and maybe 2. Go Illini

I actually like when refs do that. They see contact, but aren't sure if it rises to the level of a foul, so they see if it actually affects the offensive player. If a fairly simple shot is missed, they call the foul, but if the player scores they let it go. I think it helps the flow of the game and lets a ticky tac foul go. It can obviously be frustrating as a fan when it leads to a late call, but in the end I think it's usually the right call.
I get what you're saying...but a foul is a foul....if a player going to the rim gets bumped.. call the foul....don't wait to see if the ball goes in or not....if the ball goes in that's denying the offensive player at a chance for a 3 pt. play by letting them play on....plus I think it's a really bad look for the officials to wait until a play is virtually over and then blowing the whistle

I definitely understand your point of view, and it's probably my NBA fandom that has led me to think this way because it's really common there.

Yea I know.....that's one of the several reasons I hardly ever watch NBA

I hear what your saying, and your B-ball acumen definitely surpasses mine. And ultimately, it almost always comes down to money. However, their fanbase has had excuses/reasons through his entire tenure and given him a 'free-pass':

1) These aren't his guys.
2) Hunter was hurt. If he was healthy....
3) Phinesee was concust and "not himself". If he was healthy....
4) Langford was a one-and-done. If only he would have stayed....
5) Brunk is hurt. If he was healthy....
6) At least he keeps the instate talent here....
7) COVID year with no fans....
8) Lander is too young. Shouldn't have reclassified....
9-100) Many, many others....

Outlook: They play us and Iowa this week. Ouch. The incoming class is non-existent. TJD may leave. They can't shoot. They can't hit FTs. They may not make the tournament this year and it is in their own backyard. He hasn't developed talent that well. (However, their freshmen have played decent as of late.) It seems the lack of hope looms large. If they want to replace him and the right big name coach becomes available, they just might.

Talked to a close friend over the weekend who is a big Hoosier fan. He also knows several alumni and donors. From what he said, nobody is happy with the way things are tending in Hoosierville. He personally feels that Archie should get one more year, but if they don't turn it around the rest of this year and next, he gone. Also said it wouldn't surprise him if they cut ties after this year. This is his roster now and the on court results are not good
Some Hoosiers won't be happy with anyone not named Knight.

Pandemic year or not, Archie is 0-6 vs Purdue. Another loss this year to Purdue might piss off enough boosters to make it happen.

Well they've had 5 HC's since Knight you'd think one of them could have at least gotten it right. There is still a hard core group that want Alford.

If we had come out flat vs. PSU, I would be more worried about this being a so-called "trap game." I am choosing to believe the OSU game was a turning point, and I think we come out ready to beat IU into submission. That might be wishful thinking, but hey ... my Iowa prediction AND my prediction of our ranking today were both one off. :)

Matt Painter >> Archie Miller. Purdue is playing quite respectably this season despite its rebuilding status. Their incoming class next year is highly-rated. They've been the premier Indiana D-1 program for several years. IU is receding into the rear-view mirror under Miller. I check out the Inside The Hall blog from time to time. They've wanted him gone since December.

If we win both this week, we head to Ann Arbor for a top 10 match up the week after.
