Our longest pregame thread of the year, as it should be. Iowa occupies my first 5 spots on my hated basketball programs. Indiana is number 6 and others come and go in the remaining spots.
I can't imagine this ever changing considering them committing one of the most evil acts in the history of college basketball. Attempting to destroy our basketball program and almost destroying the life of a poor kid from Chicago.
But I am a forgiving guy, so perhaps the day will come when they relinquish a couple spots in my top 5. A full public apology including admission of the complicity of the university in this evil, release of all evidence of their crime, and reparations to Deon Thomas and the University of Illinois. It's probably asking to much for them to forfeit one of those games from the 80s when Roy Marble played 38 minutes despite committing 14 fouls.

Being an alum not from the great state of Illinois and not having the generational knowledge handed down to me by parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc., this has certainly increased my background knowledge of the rivalry, not to mention making me spew my morning coffee all over my iPad (it survived). I had a hard time trying to stop laughing even as I was cleaning up the spill.
My disdain for the Sqwuakeyes grows with every post to this thread, and begins to approach the completely irrational hate I hold for scUM.

Sorry if it has been posted already in this incredibly lengthy pre-game thread, but 30 years ago today:
Not a big fan of the matchup here. Can't have a slow start against those guys or we'll be in a world of hurt quickly. Can't turn the ball over, have to establish DD early, make free throws at a reasonable clip and make a point of getting the ball to the basket. Obviously, the defense has to be there. Iowa can really score. Hard to imagine us winning a game in the high 70's or 80's.
Mizzou is my most hated team, partially fueled by a friendly rivalry with my wife who went there for a year before transferring to WVU. Iowa is a very close 2nd. I hate their guts and livers, and beating them in mbb, fb, and wbb in the same year would bring much happiness. A wrestling win would be icing on that cake, but alas...not this year.
