He has always been obnoxious and full of himself. Stopped listening to the score because of him. He is the epitome of the worst stereotype of Chicago natives.
Same. He really is the definition of old man yelling at cloud. What's crazy too is that he is a major hypocrite. He would at all high and mighty and rage about the toxicity of various things regarding young people, and then would turn around and make some covertly racist or sexist joke. I would listen when Leila Rahimi would be on, and you could tell she would stay quiet at times because she did not agree with whatever tangent he is going off on. He is incredibly out of touch and just does not have a pulse on the public at large.

Edit: Funny enough, I just listened to the clip too. He and Lawrence went directly from talking about their supposed good friend Sarah Spain to the Orange Krush story. I went over to Sarah Spain's twitter for an unrelated reason, and saw that she retweeted Silvy from ESPN 1000 Waddle and Silvy retweeting the Orange Krush post and telling the University of Iowa to make things right with the Orange Krush. Obviously this is from a few days ago at this point. But this just goes to show that there are plenty in the media that support our side of this story, and its the actual old men "goobers" like Bernstein or Dan Dakich who are out of touch.

Well , the common thought aboot this game is whether we hit an average or above average % on our 3 point shots.......No doubt it will be hella important , but our D is gonna be the deciding factor in Saturdays game .....We have a height advantage at a couple of positions and will try to maximize that advantage.........

If there is a change in our starting 5 I would also expect it to be Rodgers in for Dain.......But I didn't know there was talk aboot it happening..............The return of Patrick M. adds another factor into our scouting report , but I just really think we will win tomorrow...

Here's to a boost in our 3's and we get an 8-10 point lead and never look back...........I like being in second place in the B$G after our 0-3 start.................So , let s go...........................

Side note based on comments made … nothing breaks my heart more than Chicago vs. Downstate BS, because the joke is on both of us. The other Big Ten states have comparative unity and pride, and they're stronger and better for it. Illinoisans who constantly bash their own state or regions within it aren’t self aware or funny; they sound self-hating and our neighbors laugh at them with pity.

GO ILLINI!
I’m not sure I agree but that’s ok. I think the michigans have little good to say about each other and a lot of people don’t like Iowa inside the state borders. (Mostly Iowa State probably. Purdue and Indiana?? Maybe I missed your point.

That makes sense him or maybe RJ starting in his place.. Size wise we match up to them and might be good to be able to have Dain and CHawk to sub for each other and not on the court at the same time to start
Yeah, I still like Dain best as a sixth man. I love our fast, athletic, long, wing-heavy look with Coleman at the 5. RJ starting is probably my preference to have (theoretical) shooters at every position, but Rodgers would be cool too with how well he’s played and how RJ has been struggling.

Big time.
A lineup of Epps/Shannon/Mayer/Goode/Hawkins could be real versatile and keeps our 5 most consistent/best shooters on the floor without the possibility of any matchup problems with that size and length.

I already feel bad for Luke inevitably needing some time to get in to game shape/speed and just being okay when he does play.

I meant state citizens in general. People in one area of Michigan don't have this intense hatred of another area just because of where they live ... I think we should honor our state's greatest figure Honest Abe and realize that a house divided cannot stand! I'll be the first to recognize Illinois has its problems, but most of that is our government being incompetent or corrupt over the years. This state has a lot going for it besides that (i.e., tons of potential), and if our own residents don't act like that then CERTAINLY no one else will!

I grew up in Southern IL, went to school in Champaign and settled in Chicago for several years. I don't know that you could find two groups of people with less in common than So. IL and the Chicago area. I don't expect to ever see much of a shared experience or shared pride in the state between those two groups. Just completely different lifestyles and priorities.

He might get a pretty loud one tomorrow in Iowa City. :)
I think it’s prudent for us fans to recognize there is a strong possibility that Luke doesn’t check in at all tomorrow. Look for him to get his first tick Tuesday at home against the Golden Gophers

To best Iowa we: 1) can not shot 17% from 3 and 2) can not go 3 to 4 mintues without scoring.

I am always a sucker for these tangents. You must have an interesting accent.

Yeah, I won't get my hopes up for some Curbelo vs. Purdue-style coming out party, but man ... Goode is literally exactly what we are missing. A guy with size who can pretty reliably hit an open shot at a decent clip.

Shared experience and pride is probably too much to ask for, and there is certainly division within each state. However, the current level of animosity and "othering" that goes on is excessive and helps no one. As someone born in Peoria and who now lives in Chicago, I just feel absolutely no connection with either of these two camps; I am proud to be from Illinois, and I recognize everywhere from Downtown Chicago to Memorial Stadium to the Shawnee National Forest as part of that appeal!

On the ground, reporting from Iowa City ... my Iowa friends are HYPED for this one. There is pretty significant buzz on both sides, and it is a refreshing surprise that almost none of it has to do with the Krush tickets thing. People are genuinely pumped that our one meeting this year between two rivals is Saturday afternoon game on FOX with huge implications on the Big Ten standings.

I'm like you. I grew up in farm country, moved to C/U as a teen, school at UIUC, then up to Chicago for the first stage of my career. I consider myself a down-stater, but certainly understand the differences between the groups.

I don't mind the differences, or even the animosity to some degree, but it's the condescension that bugs me. People have more in common than they don't, and acting like someone is less than because of where they grew up, where they lived, or what some of their core beliefs are is just ridiculous and amplifies the fractures we already have in our society.
