Davis played cornerback and receiver at American Heritage - Delray. Also played basketball. Pretty good athlete, but not sure how much QB action he has had.

I twittered his name and qb. Looks like he played qb as a freshman and soph, then switched to wr because that's what he was going to be in college, but was still the back-back-up QB and ended up playing a bit there because the QB was a hurt often.

Wildcat

Maybe we play the Wildcat for 4 quarters and see how that works out! Maybe that's why we have a "New" QB.:thumb:

The most fun football game I've watched in the last few years was Texas-Baylor last November when the injury-ravaged Baylor team finally ran out of quarterbacks and had a wide receiver just basically running single wing stuff out of the spread for the last three quarters of the game....and almost won! It was ridiculous, like stepping into a time machine, and for all the years of building Art Briles' system and all the preparation that goes into a gameplan they had to just chuck it all out the window and make it up as they went along.

That's what Trenard Davis as Illini QB would look like. With a much worse result.

bet on UM now so when Lunt and Crouch are officially out you don't lose points on the spread.

Do you remember years ago when an outmanned Morris team was playing Joliet Catholic in Memorial for the state championship? They played a "pole cat" offense that thoroughly confused the Hilltoppers and kept the game close until the very end. Let's do that.

I know the line will move if Lunt and Crouch are ruled out, but how much of a step down is JG Jr. than Lunt and Crouch? It's not like Lunt and Crouch are world-beaters. Lunt is not a fit for this offense b/c he is so immobile and lacks pocket presence while Crouch struggles with accuracy (let alone throwing a spiral). I actually prefer Crouch to Lunt since Crouch has running ability and Lunt is a senior and won't be here next season.

I'm not claiming JG jJ. is going to lead this team into Ann Arbor and come out the victor, but I don't see that much difference between our three QBs. I think JG Jr. will struggle to limit turnovers, but if he can limit turnovers, which is a big if, he can steer this ship which is based on getting the ball to Turner, Corbin, Vaughn and Foster. And by "steering this ship" for this Saturday's game vs. Michigan I mean, "not struggling any more than we would have with another QB".

We're going to get thumped no matter who plays QB is also part of my point here. It doesn't hurt to see what kind of moxie JG Jr. may have. We'll learn a lot about the kid i this game that is for certain. Likewise, he'll learn a lot too.

Pretty sure any learning that George might do in this game would not be the sort of learning that you want a quarterback to learn.

I think we need to put Davis in so we have a qb capable of just running for his life.

Yeah, you can't imagine a worse situation to throw a brand new QB into. On the road, in a crazy environment, in an offense that doesn't fit his skills, against an elite team with an insanely talented defense that loves to blitz, with next to no talent at receiver to help him.

Ha. So true. I hope that poor kid doesn't read this forum...

So are we certain that Crouch is out or is this still speculation?

With two injured QBs might have been a good idea to put him in for a few snaps against Rutgers or earlier in the season, no? I'm a big Lovie supporter, but some of the coaching decisions this year have been past curious. Throwing this kid to the wolves his first game is coaching malpractice.

That's some top notch Monday morning quarterbacking.

You never plan to play your third string QB. Him not getting any playing time is not bad coaching.
