I know the line will move if Lunt and Crouch are ruled out, but how much of a step down is JG Jr. than Lunt and Crouch? It's not like Lunt and Crouch are world-beaters. Lunt is not a fit for this offense b/c he is so immobile and lacks pocket presence while Crouch struggles with accuracy (let alone throwing a spiral). I actually prefer Crouch to Lunt since Crouch has running ability and Lunt is a senior and won't be here next season.
I'm not claiming JG jJ. is going to lead this team into Ann Arbor and come out the victor, but I don't see that much difference between our three QBs. I think JG Jr. will struggle to limit turnovers, but if he can limit turnovers, which is a big if, he can steer this ship which is based on getting the ball to Turner, Corbin, Vaughn and Foster. And by "steering this ship" for this Saturday's game vs. Michigan I mean, "not struggling any more than we would have with another QB".
We're going to get thumped no matter who plays QB is also part of my point here. It doesn't hurt to see what kind of moxie JG Jr. may have. We'll learn a lot about the kid i this game that is for certain. Likewise, he'll learn a lot too.
