This is going to be a tough one. I'm hoping bye week trumps playing a road game on the West Coast, but man, these are really hard games to win. Typically legacy B10 teams don't just stroll into legacy Pac10 stadiums and win and vice versa. I like that Bret will be flying them out early, but hell, I might've flown them out even earlier so long as they could find a place to practice. The time difference, the change in environment... tough tough game to get the body ready for. And then also playing a good team coming off a loss. Don't like that either.
And then there's the x-factor, the rain. Now usually you'd say advantage to the team with the better offensive line and the better run game, disadvantage to the team relying on the pocket QB. And that seems strong advantage Washington considering they also have a highly mobile QB and our defense isn't quite known for their overall speed and mobility.
But as an athlete who also wasn't known for my wheels, man did I love a rain game. It always felt like the great equalizer, where those fast athletes played like they were wearing ankle weights and I just ran seemingly unaffected, if not invigorated. Those were my best games and I still get nostalgic whenever I get to see one in person.
I like our physical DBs running downhill to blow up Washington skill guys in the rain. I trust Luke in the rain. I think we'll run better in the rain. And I think Washington's excellent QB won't be as shifty in the rain.
I'm sufficiently amped now. Let's win this!
