We keep our streak alive of not allowing a touchdown at home.

Griffin goes 2-2 on field goals.

27-6 good guys.
I respect the Mocs…but we were told that Wyoming was a threat, and they weren’t. We were told almost unanimously by Those Who Know that it was t whether Virginia would win but by how much. The refs at Indiana gave away a game that should have been ours.

So Chattanooga, with all due respect, if we avoid turnovers and the defense plays to form, Illinois gives the depth some time on field.

Illini 42 Chatt 6 this defense is good and the offense with extra practice finally clicks for a whole game....

Why no vegas odds for this game --- at least so far? Is it due to UTC being an FCS opponent?

Closest thing I've been able to find is a projected score of 31-24 good guys.

I’ll be interested to see what the crowd is like. I’m obviously not expecting anything overly impressive on a Thursday night, but at the same time student tickets sales sound like they’re outpacing a normal Saturday! (Yes, I know they’re free.)

We had 37.8k for Wyoming and 33.7k for UVA at 3:00 pm on a Saturday. I think if we eclipse UVA’s attendance, that would be a nice feat. As I’ve said before, if we can get a dominant win here and shock the Badgers in Madison (why not??), I predict 45k+ in the stands for Iowa.

I hope I'm wrong but I suspect the numbers will be grisly and the actual butts in seats will be even worse.

I am sure lots of season ticket holders, especially ones who live far away, are just writing this one off.

Thursday night against an out-of-state FCS team is basically the least appealing possible ticket for Illini football.

And I don't want to criticize the decision to try and goose things with the students, it's the right move, but it's just unfortunate that you're probably sending all of these kids into an environment that will validate their general attitude of not bothering with football games.

There's an argument out there that 11am Saturday game against Chattanooga would draw less. Certainly as a student I would have prefered the Thursday night game (really any night game on any day of the week), and 11am from Chicago is no easy task for fans since tailgating is half the fun for a game like this. Also nothing else in the area is going on on a Thursday night while there is plenty else to do on a Saturday.

You might be able to find some write ups before the odds post. Lately more and more books post FCS odds a day or two before the game(not always but is the norm). Mainly because more interest in power conferences and sharp money can move those lines rather quickly with FCS games. Might be able to see a line move a few points over a week in major conferences if a lot of money and possible injury news. FCS lines can move 3-4 points in a few hours time. That is huge movement!

Nothing going on on a Thursday night? I don’t want to sound too much OK Boomer, but a Thursday night game response would be “on a school night” back in the day. That said, all games were 1:00 on Saturday. That’s what it said on the student ticket.

The problem for most people who are “still working” is that a Thursday night game means at least a half day off on Thursday and most of Friday…or at least sleepwalking through Friday.

We are retired so we can be there. Other retirees are probably just as free to attend. So attendance? To thy happy children of the future those of the past send greetings.”

You can get tickets on seatgeek for $5 or maybe less. Great seats for under $20. Tells me a lot of people are dumping their tickets and nobody is buying. Expect your assessment of the crowd is spot on. Hopefully we're giving Chatty a percent of the gate rather than a flat fee.

Heard from a friend who works for Illinois. All faculty and staff are being offered two free tickets, too. Here's hoping enough of them take up the offer

Have we played on a night where there's a workday the next morning in recent years?

I mean honestly, if I were going to try to go to this game from my place in Chicago I would have to leave at like 4 (earlier if I wanted to tailgate or grab dinner) and wouldn't get home until like 2AM. And the drive down would be way worse in many parts of the city and suburbs, taking Lake Shore Drive to the Dan Ryan for me avoids the worst of the traffic.

I actually love the scheduling of this game. Plenty of time to add some plays to the offense/defense, get more practice time in before the Big Ten slate and most of all get guys healthy that are banged up a bit. We are playing at home fresh and Chattanooga is coming off a game last Saturday. We get Chattanooga and rest while Wisconsin plays at Ohio St Saturday night. BB makes no excuses.....time to follow suit. I like those that want to fill up the stadium but that is one of my last concerns. Time to put the throttle to Chattanooga and move on to the next game.

I think the Mocs could give us a good fight early, their fans seem to be worried about their secondary and to a much lesser degree their Oline getting a push.

They do a lot of RPO and have a mobile qb which always worries me. Would love to see us jump on them and play the backups in the fourth quarter.

I remember the last home game with Wisc. we were not given a chance in ---- to win and we did. Win Thursday and on to Wisc.

She offered me her tickets. That's exactly why I didn't take them, unfortunately. Much easier to catch basketball on a weeknight than football
