I really have a bad feeling about tonight. The Illini always are the best in bringing out the pessimist in me (not that it's very hard).
If your that much of a pessimist, not sure what would change your mind, but Wesleyan just played UIC in Chicago last night. So they are going back to back nights Chicago to Champaign. We get a D3 school on back to back nights for them. Dare I say it.....We Will WIn.

UIC won 81-60. That's the measuring stick for tonight.

A clean slate, a new team. Go Illini.

U of I athletics site has basketball record book (Media Guide you can download or buy a hard copy).

I'm excited about the new guys at Illinois. Should I be?

I'm watching "Campus Eats" on BTN. They're featuring "Seven Saints" and sliders in Champaign. Good joint?

My understanding is that these scrimmages are not usually strictly 40-minute true game type scenarios. Who knows.

Nobody got hurt, that's the important thing. That's the important thing for tonight too.
They can be very mixed with some stop/starts, so a 3 point game really only says we were fairly close. The SI poll has Vandy at 38 - so if nothing else, its nice to stay in the same neighborhood during a scrimmage.

Uh oh. How are we going to play without our PG, Feliz?

Ha, JK combes!

In the same interview the starting line up was announced BU also said Feliz was the best player on the team vs Vanderbilt. They fouled him 11 times. Gets wherever he wants on the floor.

Combes info is good.

I only wish they were on radio or tv. I want to learn how to pronounce some of these guys' names.

I posted this link to this radio station and someone changed what I had posted to the Fighting Illini production website. This link doesn't cost any money to listen to the game. Once you're on the WHMS website, click on "Listen Live" and then click on the right pointing arrow in the media player.

Ha, I know. combes is a good source of info. He is pretty even-keeled most of the time, and I actually agree with most of what he says on here.

He has been pretty steadfast in saying that Feliz will be our PG with Ayo and Trent on the wings, and for the first exhibition game, that isn't the case, so I was poking fun.

Its a nice casual american food place, if you want to avoid crowds at more popular places. If you dont visit frequently or live around the area, I'd probably try somewhere different, but I've always had good food there, its a step up from places like Guidos, but not as fancy as Distihl.

Thanks, just what I need: more fire water! Thanks again all for radio info. I remember listening to Illini games in the glory days way back when. I love watching games on radio! Jack Quinlan, Harry Caray, Lloyd Pettit, Illini announcers, etc.

These Illini may surprise us; I sure hope so. Let Coach get the type of player he wants, and let's see what happens.

Sorry, I've got to include Lloyd Pettit, Blackhawks, as one of the greatest voices in all of sports! "A shot - and a goal! " I met him way back during a Bruins-Blues playoff game in St. Louis. What a nice man!

It sounds like Kipper is on board, big-time. Need him. Man, I want to see Illini guards run and pass! Speed, baby! Shades of 2004-5.

My idea of basketball is for a team to get to the basket on either end of the floor "furstest with the mostest!" - to quote Nathan Bedford Forrest who didn't say any such thing. What he said, scholars say, is "get there first with the most men." A great tactic: Do it Illini!

Frankly, I'll take Benjamin Grierson as an inspiration. Look him up : he's buried in Jacksonville. A Union man and Forrest's nemesis. What's Grierson got to do with Illini b-ball? Nothing, except send in the cavalry! Speed.

Have a great weekend!
