I'd like the Illini to make 3 changes before this Iowa game that are killing us in close games.
1. Play the last 3 minutes of the game as if it's not yet over.
2. Stop other teams from driving the lane for uncontested layup drills.
3. Develop a few basic inbound plays to break a full court press.

It's bewildering because the one thing we have always seen under BU is effort on defense and that's basically everything in the breakdown. Communication requires being mentally focused (effort), getting back on defense (effort), rotating help side (effort). It's all mental at this point and we've seen they are capable of doing more. The comments from BU seem concerning to that end but apparently he sees that has been lacking.

maybe they should watch it with LaTulip and try to fix things
I still don't understand why BU doesn't hire Mike as a consultant to the coaching staff, in a role like Leonhard
Watching his PSU analysis and his earlier analyses and insights, I have to believe a lot of things would have / could have been fixed already
If staff and players already know these things and how to fix, then why do we keep getting the same ***

He should have watched the film, he needs to clean up the defense. A lot.

The LaTulip breakdown was awesome. Showed numerous occasions where we lacked effort and/or communication.

Watching Shannon stand on the baseline and not move an inch on those inbounds plays was maddening. I get that he gave a ton of effort in transition but dang. Between that and Harmon getting back-doored four times, ugh. Could have won by 20 if we'd have done just a few things better/with effort.

Agree it’s all fixable but will we get it fixed and if we do for how long. Can we do it consistently? We need CH and TSJ to be on court leaders especially at the end of games. Keep everyone locked in and executing both on offense and defense. CH needs to shut up, play basketball and get locked in now. Stop chirping to the crowd, stop talking/looking at officials, stay off social media, and show he’s NBA ready. Did the loss wake them up? I think you’ve all made so many valid points and I know we all will be rooting for this team to succeed! As frustrating as our coach can be, we all know he cares and hates losing as much or more than us. I-L-L

CH is CH, don’t expect a big change in the last half of his 4 years here.
