When will there be some reports on the NB football team? I wonder if the NCAA investigation will have any effect on the team. We need to come out with a win. Go Illini!

Yep, sometimes I get hamstring cramps while sleeping and that's painful enough, but a badly torn hamstring? I can't imagine how much pain the poor guy is in right now. Hope it heals quickly
A home remedy for leg cramps is tonic water. It really works. It also is a good excuse for that nightly gin and tonic ... just saying.

Unless there are some immediate suspensions, I’d guess they will use it as a motivation. Us against the world kind of thing.

Saturday Sportsline had the Nebraska PBP announcer on. Haven’t listened yet, but heard it was worthwhile.

FWIW, I listened to the interview today and he is pretty high on their team this year. Defense should be strong up front, and Martinez has looked really good in camp. Have some nice WR’s. My confidence was already waning a bit because Nebraska has so much on the line with this game. They have a tough schedule and can’t afford a loss in week 0. Scott Frost has had a way for screwing things up tho, so I’m sticking with O&B on the 28th!!

We hear the same pre season hype about Neb every yr. Don’t put too much stock into that interview

I think we win in a very close one.

last year - we beat them handily
year before - blow a 35-21 lead late in the 3rd. Should’ve won.

they are under a ton of pressure. We are under far less. We are used to losing to the eastern Washington’s of the world early in the season. Losing this one isn’t too significant. Seniors will make plays late

We need to take care of the ball, run all over them, get them tired, and grab a couple INT's. We pretty much need to do more of what we did to them last year. This first game is really a coin flip.

Good thing that sounds very much like BB's general scheme. I do think we end up giving up a few big plays as we switch from the failed Tampa 2 to a more pressure, zone blitz style. We may get some more turnovers.

With all our experience it should help. Most of the players that will be starting went through the growing pains 4-5 years ago. Remember, Gay looking like a toothpick his freshman year. Carney was a good freshman player but still should not have been on the field early. The O line were babies on the field as D-1 players. Now they are grown men. The qb has a lot of experience and his backup is not a freshman who has never seen the field. Even his backup has started games. The RB room is loaded and should be capable of good plays and there will be a lot of depth and experience on the field. Now we have legit full back and very capable TE's. It will be up to the defense to stop Martinez. If they do we win. They have to keep him in the pocket. Go ILLINI! Can't wait for next Saturday. I know there has been a lot of good vibes from the coaching staff, but I wonder what the staff thinks they have inherited that will be on the field. One word, Experience. They won't be like deer in the headlights.

Martinez gave them a spark last year after McCaffrey struggled. Hopefully he is inconsistent and we mix it up, give him different looks and confuse him.

Like our maturity in the trenches to pick up new schemes and run with them. I am eternally optimistic on all of our coaching regime changes, tho!

IL +7

I’d def take IL on that line, if I were a betting man. Which I’m not.

I did bet on the over/under for the season (over) at 3.5 wins. Have to think we will grab at least two on top of UTSA and Charlotte. Not sure we will get to six, but have to think 4+.
