Sure hope Memorial Stadium gets their act together. The concessions area on the East side was a train wreck. Had to wait in line 45 minutes to get any food or a drink with ice. The crowd was jammed in there trying to pick up food that was ordered, and people were getting frustrated. Also, the bottled drinks only lines were way too long; plus when we got to the front the drinks were lukewarm and they were out of bottled water!!!! They seemed totally unprepared for a gameday where hydration was important. Some of my friends had to leave early as they were too hot and thirsty. I was planning to take the family next week to the UTSA game and enjoy the concessions for dinner, but I guess we will have to eat before we get inside as that would be a nightmare. I've been attending games at Memorial Stadium since 1977 and have never seen anything like today. They need to fix this asap if they want fans to enjoy the gameday experience in the stadium.
West side concession were terrible too. My wife waited over 10 minutes for the line to barely move before giving up. I went late in the 3rd quarter to see one person get served in my line in 5 minutes. Second person got told they were out of just about everything. I gave up. Fortunate that we ate lunch before going in. No doubt we will be eating dinner at the tailgate next week rather than risk this mess again.

Never heard of this guy, but that ~30 minute preview was pretty darn impressive.

Very impressed. Concerned about this Saturday. This dude will have his boys ready to play. In years past that would be a death knell but after last week I can’t help but feel like we will too

Coming off of an emotional win, I’ll be very impressed if we come out with the same energy/focus and put away a good UTSA team like we are “supposed to.” Going into the UVA game 2-0 really opens up an opportunity to start this season with some true momentum. UVA will be tough, especially on the road, but if we can snag that type of game … 6-0 start is shockingly on the table. Won’t get ahead of myself, though, as I’m honestly as nervous for this one as any of them!

Also, I know there is a small chance for rain and the opponent isn’t a big draw, but it’d be nice to see fans buy into this team and get 40k plus, at least, in the stands. We’ll obviously lose the Nebby fans’ numbers (10k? More??), but it’d be nice to offset that with a combination of fans who have started to believe in the team after last week and those that stayed home last week due to the heat. If we can win this one and steal a win at UVA, I’ll be hoping for a very big crowd for Maryland even though it’s a Friday!

I've never been more confident of a coaching staff having the Illini ready to play at home since Mackovic. I will be very surprised if we come out flat. I think it's more likely they got the taste of blood and will come out even hungrier.

This staff knows how to prepare.

what I really like about this past game is we came out to play from the get go, and also the 9 minute drive to open the 2nd half. Things we just about never saw the past 15 years. We seemed to always be unprepared before.

No stupid self inflicted penalties. No delay of game. No looking to the coaches at the sideline all confused. It was just about a 180 degree change from the past

btw, someone needs to get Art some new velcro to keep his forearm cheat sheet closed better. it was a flappin' a few times.
not sure what Neb was doing to our Oline in the first quarter but they were giving our super seniors fits - lets say I was quite concerned at that point.

Did seem like Neb DLine was trying to knock out our QB's. I hope they were warned by the refs. It seemed to stop after the Sitkowski hit .

The 9 minute drive was a masterclass in ball control offense. Flippin' glorious. I could get used to stuff like that.

We needed some water and got lucky. There was a long beer line basically cutting off the TCBY stand. I noticed one person in line at TCBY and I moved through the beer line and to my surprise, TCBY also sold water and soda. Got a water (and some yogurt) immediately instead of waiting in a long line at other stations. So if you're looking for a water, and soda next time try the TCBY. If you want beer, you gotta wait.

He was a very good hire for UTSA. Was a highly successful HS coach in TX when Charlie Strong brought him to UT. Great recruiter there for a year. I believe Strong was fired after Traylor’s first year there, and he moved on to SMU. Good chance he’s a hot commodity in another couple of years.

That was, in my opinion, the most glaring difference between this year and the last 15 or so. I was at an friend's watching the game, who happens to be a Hawkeye (he was cheering for UI) and he even noticed the difference.

How much is a bottle of water from the concessions?

Also what’s game time temp forecasted to be? Good thing we didn’t catch the Texas boys last week. I don’t think the heat would have had as big of an effect on them.

There is no doubt there was a difference between 19 and 21. I don't count 20. I hope our guys from Tx will show off why they came to ILLINI. Let's hope Beason gets a chance to play. This will be a good game. I don't see them making mistakes like NB, but who knows. This isn't Kent State or Ball State. Come out with a victory and on to VA. You surely can see the difference in coaching, mentality, and play on the field from 19 to 21. I know the guys are two years older, but just the overall mindset is different. Remember, when we were the youngest team in the country and now the oldest team. How many true freshman got into the game last week? I couldn't find player participation article.

I believe it was $4.

They let you bring water into the stadium, and my wife packed four bags with 20-some waters in them that she had frozen the night before (and they did stay cold into the 4th quarter). My sons and I were teasing her as we walked through the tailgates with these huge bags of water and into the stadium as everyone else was throwing footballs around, eating burgers and drinking beer. Especially now that I hear how bad the lines for waters were, I'm glad she did it. She even had random fans coming up to buy waters off us as we got into Grange Grove and closer to the entrance (I thought we could trade a couple waters for beers), but instead she did sell a few for a few bucks. So we even came out ahead $$ wise, stayed hydrated and avoided the lines, and I've got to say it was a great idea (just don't tell her I said that)

Thanks everybody for the replies. Thought about bringing my travel trailer, but had no clue about doing that either. I dont know how many UTSA fans will be going, but I am hoping for a good turnout. So far, looks like my wife and I might be the only ones tailgating and hopefully some of my friends show up as well.

Another poster threw out a 27-17 prediction and I think that’s about right. Defense plays well, we run the ball well and get the win. Might be tied at half but we’ll wear them down up front. Nebraska d line was sucking wind down the stretch. We don’t show too much schematically and head to UVA for a big one for us.

UTSA looks like a good team. I watched the highlights of their game against BYU. The qb is big and strong but no where near as fast or elusive as Martinez. Good arm. The rb look good also. Who will replace Hart this Saturday? They look like a good team that will bring it the whole game. Our second game their first. We should have that advantage and we will be home. Blake Hayes is a weapon. The game will be won on the line. With 4 good running backs it will wear on them. I hope Beason is able to play. It was great to see Spann do what he did last week. I did not hear coach mention why he went for a 55 yd field goal. I thought Blake could put them in side the 10 yard line. That guy with a two step kick and it just sails.

Agree with all of this. The QB is more of a threat than some seem to think (not running), imho. I still see the bloved coming out on top by a touchdown-to-ten. The kick made sense to me. McCort is a darn good kicker and had the wind at his back. I understand if others disagree.

From where I was sitting in 107 about 40 rows up it was hard to see the ball from the that angle. Plus I was surrounded by NB fans. They were nice. But got tired of hearing GO BIG RED! They were loud but not proud of Frost's performance. He got outcoached by a true Big Ten experienced coach. I thought Hayes would have pinned them within the 10 yard line. But I guess McCourt needed to air his leg out. Beat UTSA and on to VA.

Fellas,

#10 Lowell Narcisse was our QB3 for the BYU game after Frank Harris went out of the game. Josh Adkins #8 was our QB2 but was injured in the previous UAB game. #0 Frank Harris was QB1 last year and got the start this year too. Watch #19 Louisiana vs UTSA bowl game and you'll get a better idea of Frank Harris (true dual threat QB). HC Traylor was out due to Covid and so were 10+ key players. OC Lunney filled in at HC.

Sorry yall, one more question... stubhub has parking passes... are these legit?
They are. if you bring yoru travel trailer they probably will let you in Lot 33 which is gameday parking for RVs which is $40 in advance or $50 day of game. It's supposed to be RVs only, but i've seen multiple travel trailers in the lot. Parking staff only seems to hassle Illini fans and gives visitors a major pass in my experience. They have gotten much better though.
