Blues lead 2-0 after the 1st period....................

David Perron , with a power play goal and Dakota Joshua with a nifty back hand shot for a goal ........

Blues are like night and day in this game compared to the terrible last game against the N J Devils .....

They are skating faster , and doing the dirty work down low on the boards ....Puck possession is 2-1 in the favor of the Blues and without a doubt , the goal tending of Ville Husso has been a big spark ........Robert Bortuzzo is shot blocking machine ..........

Perron finally got one to go in and beat Fluery in the 5 hole with a low wicked wrister pulling the puck back from a d-man for the Hawks and scoring the goal........

Blues lead 3-1 , after a fast and furious 2nd period........................

Non stop action with multiple penalties and the Blues gave up the hawks goal on a 5 on 3 Hawk's power play ......

But the highlight of the period was the Blues third goal scored by Vladi Tarasenko on a wicked back hand pass from Robert Thomas with 41 seconds left in the 2nd period....It was a beautiful goal and NL # 3 jumped up so high she spilled her mixed drink ......it is so special to see her enjoy the Blues hockey games as she had no idea about hockey just 3 months ago.......

Blues win 5-1 ...............

Great bounce back game from the debacle against the Devil's earlier this week.......

Ville Husso is the # 1 goalie for the Blues right now and there is no doubt of that in my mind......

Blues now embark on a 4 game road trip with the next game against the Ottawa Senators next Tuesday 02/15/22 @ 6 pm CT.....

Be it that 7-1 beatdown in Calgary Jan. 24, the 4-1 sleepwalk against Winnipeg Jan. 29 or Thursday’s 7-4 pratfall to New Jersey, the Blues have thrown out some clunkers lately.
But whatever’s the opposite of a clunker, well, that’s what the Blues produced Saturday before a crowd of 18,096 at Enterprise Center — the team’s 14th home sellout of the season. The Blues started fast, closed strong. They checked, they played determined defense. And the result was an emphatic 5-1 victory over the evil Chicago Blackhawks. All things considered, an appropriate response after that debacle against the Devils.

“It was a good effort,” coach Craig Berube said. “I thought we played hard. We were on the same page tonight for three periods. Second period got a little hairy with penalties. But overall a good performance by everybody.”And by everybody — he meant everybody. The goals were scored by five different players — some who are accustomed to scoring (Vladimir Tarasenko and Jordan Kyrou); some who haven’t scored much this season (Dakota Joshua and Oskar Sundqvist); and someone who hasn’t scored in a while (David Perron).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was a great bounce back game by the Blues and a very necessary home win before they leave for a 4 game road trip.....The difference in play was night and day from the Devils debacle and it was great to see the Blues finally come to their sense's and play the # 1 rated goalie , Ville Husso , in goal last night ............No offense to binnington , as he lead the Blues to their first Cup victory , but something is not right with him and the Blues need to ride Husso for as long as possible as he is leading the league in GAA and save %.......JMHO

If it seems like the Blues have been home a lot lately, well, they have. Dating back to the first week of January, nine of their last 12 games have taken place at the friendly confines of Enterprise Center.
Even with a couple of recent stumbles, the Blues again have one of the NHL’s best home-ice advantages. At 18-6-2 for 38 points, only Florida (46) and Colorado (44) have racked up more home points this season.
The road has not been so friendly. The Blues are barely a .500 team away from home with a 9-8-3 record for 21 points, which is tied for 22nd in the league. If they are to be a bona fide Stanley Cup contender, they must do better — much better — than that.

“We need to find a way to win more games on the road,” Vladimir Tarasenko said following Saturday’s 5-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks. “Talking about stats, we don’t really track our road record. But we need to understand that we have so many games on the road. “It’s very important points. From a playoff standpoint, we have to find a way to play well this upcoming road trip. We will prepare well for those games.”

8 of the next 9 games are on the road , starting with Ottawa on Tuesday @ 6 pm CT..............................

For much of this season, the Blues’ fourth line hasn’t had an identity because it’s been impossible to pin down the identity of the players on the fourth line.
Amid the roster churn of the Blues’ forwards in the first half of the season, it was the fourth line that bore the brunt of the changes. Players such as Nathan Walker, Matthew Peca, Alexei Toropchenko and Dakota Joshua landed on the fourth line when they got called up from Springfield, mixed in with players such as James Neal, Logan Brown, Tyler Bozak, Oskar Sundqvist, Klim Kostin and the departed Kyle Clifford. Defenseman Jake Walman was even there for a game.
Sundqvist is now one of the veteran members of the team, while Kostin and Joshua are newcomers. Kostin, when healthy, has been a regular in the lineup this season, though his minutes often are in single digits. But he’s doing the things the Blues want to see from him. He’s the team leader in hits, though he’s got among the least ice time, and he’s 15th in the league in hits per 60 minutes.

OTTAWA, Ontario — Winning the games you’re supposed to win is a sure sign of a good team. In the highly unpredictable world of the National Hockey League, that’s easier said than done.
But the Blues took care of business Tuesday, defeating the Ottawa Senators 5-2 in their first game at the Canadian Tire Centre in 28 months. Vladimir Tarasenko scored twice, Brayden Schenn stayed hot, the fourth line chipped in. And Ville Husso? He continues to just win, baby, stopping 20 shots in pushing his record to 11-3-1. The Blues have stubbed their toes against some lesser teams lately, most notably New Jersey last week. But that wasn’t the case Tuesday. The Senators got the Blues’ full attention.

“They’re a team that sticks around. They make every game a hard game,” said Robert Thomas, who finished with a goal and two assists. “They work extremely hard and they got a lot of skill.” The same could be said for the Blues, who improved to 28-14-5 — exceeding their victory total from last season (27) in what was a COVID shortened 56-game season. With 61 points, the Blues moved ahead of Nashville, which lost 4-1 Tuesday to Washington, into third place in the Central Division.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

The Blues played an outstanding all around game last night , with dominant puck control in the Senator's end......Passes were on the bullseye and led to swarming around the Sens goal...........I wish this would be the blueprint going forward .....If the Blues can bring this effort last night to their remaining games this season , then we are in for a treat and going far in the playoffs........JMHO

The NHL’s Western Conference powers are muscling up for the postseason push.
The Vegas Golden Knights will plug elite center Jack Eichel into their starting lineup Wednesday. Eichel, acquired earlier this season from the hapless Buffalo Sabres, has finally recovered from neck surgery.
The streaking Calgary Flames sent first- and fifth-round draft picks plus winger prospect Emil Heineman and spare forward Tyler Pitlick to the Montreal Canadiens Monday for former 30-goal scorer Tyler Toffoli.
Meanwhile the Colorado Avalanche are sending “all-in” signals around the league, triggering speculation about Philadelphia Flyers forward Claude Giroux. They might also beef up their blue line and add some insurance in goal.

All of this provides Blues general manager Doug Armstrong food for thought as he evaluates his team’s postseason potential.
The Blues’ defense needs bolstering. Young Niko Mikkola could become a shutdown defender, but he remains in development.
Given that unfinished business and the inconsistencies of Marco Scandella and Colton Parayko, the Blues could use another sturdy veteran defenseman.
So you can expect the ever-aggressive Armstrong to make an upgrade ahead of the league’s March 21 trade deadline.

---------------------------------------------------------

Will be interesting to see what Armstrong does to help the Blues , considering cap space and not wanting to create chemistry issues with the team.....
Armstrong is not a shy GM and has a good track record of making moves that are beneficial to the team and fit within the team's financial constraints....

MONTREAL — It’s been a month now since the Blues have had their entire forward group healthy and available for action. And the results have been impressive.
Yes, there were a couple of clunkers in there — losses to Calgary and Winnipeg in which the Blues managed only one goal. But in the nine games since Brayden Schenn returned from the COVID list, making the forward group whole, the Blues have scored five goals on five occasions, scored four goals once, and managed three goals in another.
For the Floridas and Colorados of the hockey world, that may not seem like much. But for most of the teams in the NHL, well, they can only sit back and marvel.

Take Ottawa coach D.J. Smith for instance.
“When I look at their lines, I can’t think of the last time we played a team that looks this deep,” Smith said before the Blues’ 5-2 win Tuesday over his Senators. “When you look at, you would call it their third line with (Brandon) Saad, and (David) Perron, and (Ivan) Barbashev. “When you watch ‘em play, you don’t get much. It’s a really good hockey team, a team built for the playoffs. They play the right way. They play hard. Obviously they’re well-coached. And they’re all healthy right now. So if you look at it, it’s the deepest team that I think we’ve played.”

Blues still tied 1-1 after 2........................

Ville Husso is , without any doubt , the first star of the game so far......Blues COULD be down 2-3 goals , but Husso is a rock in goal tonight .....

As John K. and Panger have said , the Blues are not controlling the puck like they did against the Sens last game ........Too much time being played in the Blues end and sooner or later it's gonna bite them......

Yep , a lot of whistle's , mainly on the Blues........Good thing the Canadians are so terrible on the power play and the Blues are so great on the PK.....

Only 4 Blues shot's on goals in the second period................................
