Kershaw pitched tonight like he was pitching against the Cardinals in the playoffs!
Cardinal pitchers snubbed tonight, but I would rather they were rested!
Funny moment from Albert. He's a class act and I'm glad he's back to all star level.

Also, I need to get my hands on one of those Cardinal all star hats. They look sweet.
Well, we have 2 weeks until the deadline, who do you see us going after? My hopes of Morneau ever getting healthy and a phone call being placed is being dismissed by the minute. Looking through the league at first basemen and I just don't see many rentals. Lind is the name I see the most and has a contract expiring this year. He does have an option for 2016, so that could be useful in case Adams isn't the same after his surgery. I also like the idea for Carlos Santana out of Cleveland. He is locked thru 2016 with an option in 2017, but he solves no power problems we, he does however get on base a ton. We also seem to have a great working relationship with Cleveland, as we have made a few trades with them in recent years.
Back to Adams, I know he is having surgery and is supposed to make a full recovery, but I really feel this is what we have to look forward to with him. He isn't getting younger,(still only 26)and he is big to over weight and I just see nothing but injuries from here on out. He has already missed portions of 2 seasons including this one. I believe his contract of 560k expires after this season(as I type this, I swear he signed an extension)and then he hits his arbitration years. I love Big City, but to me his risk does not outweigh the reward. He doesn't do anything terrific, but does everything decent. He has mediocre power, decent average, doesn't drive in a ton, nimble at first, but does nothing to me that screams lock him up.
So, what do you suppose we do.
I know I must be missing something, but I still don't understand why the Cardinals are not looking at Holliday to play first base. His defense in the outfield has always been mediocre and at his age is not going to get any better. And, as one writer indicated, an outfield of Grichuk, Bourjos, and Hayward could very well be the best defensively in the NL.
I think in the middle of a playoff race, it is much to risky to have Holliday learning a new spot. In the offseason, perhaps, but now I see that as being a disaster. I like the idea of Piscotty at first, we will be able to keep that position in house, but right now it is an idea. While Grichuk, Bourjos and Heyward would be a tremendous defensive outfield, I'm just not so sure of the offensive output of those guys. I also think the Pirates have something to say about where the best outfield resides and will for time to come.
I haven't seen much of what the free agent market looks like this offseason, but I also think 2017 and 2018 is when the splashy moves can be made. I believe our new radio and TV deals come into place then and the extra revenue from BallPark village when it is 100% complete.
We have the pitching right now, even without Waino, we have it. I preface that with the expectation that Marco and Jaime can be ready soon and we can roll a 6 man rotation for a bit.
Our farm system right now is middle of the pack and we just optioned Diaz, so hopefully he clears waivers. We will have some aging guys here with seemingly nothing behind it right now. Holliday not getting younger, same with Yadi who is 33 and with us until 2018, Peralta with 2 years left and is aging, Marp seems like he is a .270 hitter with limited power at a corner position, and Heyward's future is uncertain.
So why does Matheny continue to overuse Rosie? Seriously how stupid is here. This is so freaking annoying. God I hate MM. Has no management skills.
Situations the past few nights pretty well dictated the need to use Rosenthal. It's not as if he's blown saves in any of these games. Prior to Tuesday night, he hadn't pitched since the previous Friday, the first game of the Mets series. That means that he had 3 days where he wasn't used. It's not as if Rosenthal hasn't needed the work. I'd be surprised if he was available tomorrow night though. If a save situation comes up, they may have someone like Maness or Siegrist close.

I like the move. Having him and Walden will keep the bullpen nice and fresh come October.
Grichuk is looking like quite the player going forward. It's early for him but man that ball jumps off his bat. Plus defender, plus arm, plus speed.
That's soo true. Ive always like him as a prospect and he seems to be excelling in the opportunities given to him. His offense has been solid, and like you said, the ball jumps off his bat. I think he's under the radar a bit right now.
Interesting article about Albert Pujols, penned by an LA sportswriter:
http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-angels-rangers-20150725-story.html
According to the article, Cards will play the Angels in Anaheim again next year, not St. Louis.
And when that time comes, I hope he is received with open arms. Albert gave me and every other Cardinals many great memeories. For my money, he is the greatest player I've seen in my time, and we just happened to have him for his best years in St. Louis.
