Took my 3 and 5 year olds to an unaffiliated team (Chicago Dogs) earlier this summer and it was a lot of fun. They were into it longer than I expected. Hope you all have a great time!

We got there a little late. Got him the ice cream hate. (No cotton candy) We made to the 5th inning. It was a lot of fun. When my son asked him what the best part of the game saw, "The ice cream" was his answer. Naturally. I asked him if he liked the clapping, "Yes".
I have a few pictures but I'm not allowed to share. *Sigh* It's difficult to obey my kids.

Sounds like a fun day! My kids' favorite part was the mascots. They got to high five one, and the other one sprayed their dad (me) with a water gun.

My wife started giving me Cubs tickets for Fathers Day starting when my daughter was 4 years old. Just me and my daughter. When my son was old enough, she started doing the same for him.

They’re 19 and 15, now. Some of my most cherished times with my kids. Savor every second of it that you can.

Post game show on tv asked Oli about his ejection. He said Bucknor questioned his time in the league! Year after year he is one of the worst umpires and he’s making fun of a rookie manager.

I used to take my daughter to preseason NFL games. Saturday games in late August. Even when it rained it was still a nice day. When she was heading to college she told me she didn't want to go any more. I was a bit surprised but asked her what she wanted to do for our outings. Sox games. As I stared at her kind of stunned, she said at least I am not a Cubs fan. I laughed and said that's what we will do from now on. We've going to Comiskey (I know I know.) for more than 15 years. Went to Wrigley for one of the Crosstown games. It was her first time there. She looked around and said, "I don't know what all the excitement about this place is all about. It's kind of a dump." I laughed again. One of her big issues was all of the obstructed view seats. The ivy wasn't filled out yet. Right about that time chucks of the upper deck were falling off.

It's funny, players and managers can get fined or suspended, but when an umpire makes a mockery of the league, they get notta.

PHOENIX — This was not a repeat of Saturday’s classic game, it wasn’t even a critics-pick sequel of an evening crammed with historic homers and memorable moments.
It did not have to be for the Cardinals to win.
The Cardinals got a short start from Jose Quintana and shorter appearance from manager Oliver Marmol before his ejection, and yet found a way to cobble together enough relief and just enough runs to rally for a series sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Nolan Arenado delivered the game-flipping, two-run single in the seventh to send the Cardinals toward a 6-4 victory Sunday at Chase Field.
The Cardinals won their seventh consecutive and it came in a far different way than Saturday’s raucous show of force.

The Cardinals got a leadoff homer from Lars Nootbaar and jumped to an early 3-0 lead before Arizona had an out. But such a lead eroded swiftly when Quintana struggled to find whatever strike zone the home-plate umpire was calling at that moment. The Cardinals lefty let the lead he was given lean away in the second inning when two walks and three singles combined with an error to knot the game, 3-3. Quintana, so superb in his previous starts since being traded to the Cardinals, did not finish the third inning.
The Diamondbacks tagged him with four runs (two earned) on seven hits, and it wasn’t until the seventh inning that the Cardinals’ offense stirred again.

I've been to Wrigley field once in my lifetime and once was enough for me.....I can't remember the actual date as I think I was a youngster around 10 years old ......
I went with my grandpa , uncle and my fav cousin to an afternoon game between the cubbies and Cardinals.......Lou Brock was a Cardinal by then and hit a 2 run homer but the Cardinals lost 3-2.....I remember the wind was howling and blowing in towards home plate .....we had seats behind home plate but up far enough to be setting in the shade and even though it was hot we froze our butts off............I got a first hand chance to see what it meant to be in a car in that terrible traffic as my uncle would speed up then coast , never using the brakes but using the speed up then coast as his routine ....

Later in my visit we all went down to Market Street and mom had given me a nickel and told me guard it with my life .....I never took my hand out of my pocket and still remember the whirling of racks of clothes being pushed all around me and barkers yelling at us and the other peeps harking their wares ....
My eyes were wide open at that scene as little ole McLeansboro never had anything approach that way of life .......

I now remember it was the year The Zombies had their hit song " Gloria ".......

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — During a frustrating season that has now included more rehab starts for minor league affiliates than games pitched for his Cardinals, Jack Flaherty has kept up with his team through the help of highlights while doing his best to field whatever questions minor leaguers throw his way.
“I’m open and willing to answer, but I don’t have all the answers,” Flaherty said here at Hammons Field this weekend. “I really don’t. Nobody ever does in this game. But you can give what you’ve got. If they ask a question, I give them my best answer. It may not be the perfect one. It may not be the right one for them. But it’s the one I can give.”
As for the question of what answer Flaherty can become for the Cardinals at the most important time of the year, it’s about time to find out.

“Dynamic,” was the first word that came to the mind of Cardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak on Sunday.
Wearing the S-Cards’ version of powder blue with an unfamiliar No. 31 on his back, Flaherty made a statement in Sunday’s Class AA start in Springfield, his third and longest since his major league return was tabled after just three June starts.
After 1-2-3 innings in the first and second, Flaherty found some turbulence against the Arkansas Travelers, the Class AA affiliate of the Mariners, in Springfield’s 6-5 win.

I've always said "Wrigley is a great place to go see the Cubs lose a ballgame." Sure, it's old, a bit dingy, kind of falling apart in places, but on the other hand the place has seen so much history (mostly of other teams beating the Cubs) that it's still one of the great cathedrals of baseball.

I'm taking my first trip to the "new" Busch in a few weeks (Braves series) and can't wait. My memories of the old park are fond related to the games and team, but pretty negative regarding the stadium itself, so I'm really looking forward to getting down there and cheering on the Birds.

Keep on rolling! I was really hoping we would have an outside chance of catching the Mets for the 2 seed, but they have just as easy a schedule as we do down the stretch.

But the goal is to bury the Brewers and clinch the division as soon as possible. With a 3 game series in front of the NLDS, it would be invaluable to be able to get the rotation set exactly how Oli wants it heading into the playoffs.

Also, anybody else think Noot might hold on to the leadoff spot for the rest of the season? He's on fire since the all start break, hitting over .300.

I think that will be a big key for the Oli in the playoffs. Get the hottest bats in front of Goldy and Nolan. Whether its Noot, DC, Edman, Gorman, Donovan...I don't care who.

That is absolutely right....get the hot bat or someone who can get on base in front of Goldy and Nolan in the playoffs.

All of the guys you mentioned have had rollercoaster type seasons so all about finding that go to leadoff hitter playoff time. Nootbaar, Edman, Carlson, etc are all very streaky. The leadoff spot scares me less than the bottom of the lineup come playoff time.

My wife and I sat in the upper deck for a doubleheader in late May. We were in the shade and the wind was a gale. We froze out pin feathers off. When he got down to street level we couldn't believe how warm it was even though the sun was beginning to set.

One time I decided to try to get out of traffic by heading straight west on Addison then cut up and get Irving Park or something like that. Ever. Single. Cop. that was directing post game traffic stopped me. After the 5th time my wife yelled at me to take my Cardinals cap off. It worked but that was the last traffic cop in the area.
