I fully understand about batting order and chances of rbi's as I am not a novice in regards to MLB......I talking about his swings and misses on pitches that in his career he has mashed heavily.........Brad Thompson even talked about it last night .................
His BA is down
His RBI's are down
His HR's are down when you take into account his 3 HR game a few weeks ago
Has he started on the path of age slowing down his bat speed ?
Last night he continued a season long scenario of swinging at pitches way outside of the strike zone
I'm concerned and will leave it at that.....................I hope he snaps out of it as we need his bat to start picking up on the performance he had last year as the MVP...................His performance this year is lacking in MVP type numbers......
JMHO.............................
No doubt his RBIs are down but he is not struggling. He might be trying to force it a bit at times but his BB and K rate are around the same level they always have been. NL Leaders in RBI....Gorman is 2nd and Arenado around top 5. Goldy is the constant in the 2nd or 3rd hole for years, the leadoff hitter and guys batting 9th-1st this season not so much. Part of it is performance, part of it is injuries as bodies keep getting switched around him.
Goldy top 10 NL in hits, total bases, runs scored total bases, doubles, bases on balls, runs created, adjusted batting runs, adjusted batting wins, extra base hits, times on base, power-speed#.
I understand what you are saying and he isn't at MVP level especially compared to his past years. Outside of when Trout is healthy, I think Goldy has been the most consistent player for the past 10 seasons now. Maybe I am giving him the benefit of the doubt on that alone.
Goldy will be 36 in a few months. Not giving him a pass/excuse but he also played in the WBC Classic before the season. Wainwright got hurt and Mikolas started off the first month slow and has turned it on. Maybe just taking the old body time to recover....know mine does just watching
