Cardinals beat the Royals 2-1.......................

Mikolas goes 8 innings with 10 K's for the win...........

Gallegos gets the save.......

2 days off then travel to Pitts. for a 3 game road series......

THATS A WINNER !!!!!!

12-7 during that 19 straight span. Doesn't necessarily feel like it given the performance the past 3 series, but I couldn't happier given where we started.

Cardinals now in last place in the Central, yet only 4.5 games out of first.
And 4 games out of the last Wild Card spot. Rockies 4.5 and Nationals 5 games out are only teams behind us.....NL playoff spots are wide open for the taking

Did all the people who threw the towel in on the Cardinals get back on the wagon or waiting for a 5 game losing streak? :ROFLMAO:

Back on May 4th I said the Cards needed to slug their way back to contention. That’s what they did averaging 7+ runs a game during that 12-4 stretch.

The offense has come back down to earth over the last week, only scoring 15 runs in the last seven games.

I think every stat improved during that stretch.....couldn't have gotten much worse. Left ton of guys on base, starting pitching, Arenado was on cold streak, lost ton of 1 run games, etc before the nice stretch.

Moves still need to take place...trades and calling some guys up

I'd argue this is a big road trip in general coming up with 3 in Pittsburgh and 3 at a surprisingly first place Rangers team.
No question, but we have to at-least go 2-1 in Pittsburgh first. I’m excited to see Jung when the Texas series rolls around. He is on a heater right now, hopefully a little cool off for STL.

At least the Cardinals are making some internal moves that make a little more sense lately......Liberatore up lately and bringing Walker back up

Contreras and Knizner can hold down the fort....Barrera never plays and is a wasted spot. Ivan Herrera literally is hitting over .350 in the last month in AAA. If the Cards need to move Barrera/Herrera up for spot catching duty than that is fine.

Cardinals have gotten away with a few roster spots lately due to injuries. Otherwise I would call it mismanagement of roster spots. Keeping Barrera up is a waste of a position spot. Running a 6 man rotation is a waste of a reliever spot even though that is going away. Matz needs to stay in the bullpen. Cardinals will make some moves as the season goes on...until than hopefully they can maximize the guys they have in the minors/bullpen that can be utilized.

It sure seems like a lot longer than just 2 off days , at least it does to me..............................

Jordan Walker joins the team in Pittsburgh tonight...........I hope he can produce enough to lock down an outfield position and end the season as the NL ROTY............JMHO.........................

I’m a little worried about the messaging in the organization. Jordan’s answers about the org. trying to change him and him ignoring and saying he going back to being himself raises a red flag for me more about the org than JW. The kid had never played higher than AA, mashes in spring, bring him up and he starts a 12 game hitting streak to start, and then we need to change his launch angle because you didn’t see the HR’s? Give me a break. Be you JW and hit them where they ain’t.

Looks like the new PDJ is back to swinging at the sliders down off the plate as he is now @ .230 and this last at bat in top of the 4th was just like last year.........hope he gets back on track soon........................................
