Roster moves after Monday's presser, (and don't get me started on that fiasco).
If you let Paul, Kyle and Lance go, that;s over $50 million of which you can try to deal Mikolas and Matz and Arenado, thereby dumping anothe $50 or so million. Add Gray and that's another $30 million.
Pitching
Sonny Gray Trade I guess, if they are really going the cheap route.
Erick Fedde Keep at least until trade deadline.
Ryan Fernandez Keep
Kyle Gibson Keep, fairly cheap innings eater. Or let go to have $$$ for paying down trade of others.
Ryan Helsley Keep until trade deadline, then package for a haul if still light's out.
John King One of 3 or 4 relievers to try and keep.
Andrew Kittredge Try to keep.
Kyle Leahy Try to keep.
Matthew Liberatore Keep, still hasn't turned 25. Rushed to majors to quickly in my opinion.
Lance Lynn Buyout
Steven Matz Trade for a Class A lottery type, even if throwing in cash. Can't stay healthy.
Michael McGreevy Keep
Kenyan Middleton One of 3 or 4 relievers to try and keep.
Miles Mikolas Trade with cash for a Class A lottery ticket type. Innings eater for someone.
Riley O'Brien Trade or release
Andre Pallante Keeper
JoJo Romero One of 3 or 4 relievers to try and keep.
Chris Roycroft Trade or release
Catchers
Wilsson Contreras Keep, unless a really good offer. I don't believe Herrera can be a starter.
Iván Herrera Trade. Excellent bat and trade value, but DH only. 55 steals given up only 4 caught.
Pedro Pagés Backup
Infielders
Nolan Arenado Trade for prospects if possible. Throw in cash to get better quality.
Luken Baker Backup/Platoon, I guess. Not sure he will ever be more than an AAAA player.
José Fermín Trade/release
Paul Goldschmidt Let walk as free agent. Thanks for your years.
Nolan Gorman What is his trade value. If still decent prospects, trade, preferably to AL.
Thomas Saggese Kepper, part of the future.
Masyn Winn Current face of the franchise.
Outfielders
Alec Burleson I would trade him, though I know others wouldn't. 1b platoon with Baker?
Brendan Donovan Keeper
Lars Nootbaar I would trade. Still has value, but too injury prone. Can't let him become O'Neil wher value drops.
Michael Siani Keeper for now. Too good as 4th outfielder. Now if he can figure out hitting.
Jordan Walker Wouldn't trade unless overwhelmed and then only to an AL team.
DH
Matt Carpenter Goodbye Matt. Would really like to know how you went from a doubles machine to a pull everything all or nothing hitter. (And all to often nothing.)
