Hope for the best with all parties involved.
Last time we’ve probably seen TSJ in an Illini uniform.
Last time we’ve probably seen TSJ in an Illini uniform.
Everyone take a breath.
I'd rather have an ant infestation than this situation.
I have a law degree from a top 20 law school and 40 years of actual experience as a lawyer, and TSJ wouldn't want me anywhere near his case (unless it’s for the prosecution). I do commercial and real estate law. Whitman has never practiced to my knowledge. So, while JW might have some understanding of the process, I doubt he has any great feel for what TSJ is facing, the process, or the prospects for a early resolution except for what he is being told by criminal lawyers. A law degree has very little to do with the actual practice of law.
They aren't saying "screw him, his career is over!" They are simply saying that the likelihood that he plays again after a charge like this is slim to none, which I don't find unrealistic or "disappointing" to say.The number of people declaring TSJ’s Illinois career over before hearing all the facts is … disappointing.
Bolded should be standard operating procedureOverall I think this thread has been pretty reasonable considering the circumstances (some exceptions, sure) but regardless of what comes out, I hope we chill on using any time gap between an alleged incident and reporting said alleged incident to mean literally anything.
@spillini
Didn't see this posted yet. Not someone well-versed on the legal side of things, but does look like there was a (potential) nurse who’s identified as a witness.
IF the story I have heard is true, there is going to be a massive uproar from this fanbase
I disagree. Any forceful incident with bruising, scratching and/or injury TSJ is not coming home from Lawrence.Overall I think this thread has been pretty reasonable considering the circumstances (some exceptions, sure) but regardless of what comes out, I hope we chill on using any time gap between an alleged incident and reporting said alleged incident to mean literally anything.
Yes. Hopefully soonWill there be a point when you are able to share that story?
Like Roarrrrr, we're mad cuz TJ isn't a good guy or like Roarrrrr, we're mad cuz he was falsely accused?IF the story I have heard is true, there is going to be a massive uproar from this fanbase
Oh boy.IF the story I have heard is true, there is going to be a massive uproar from this fanbase
I think you’re missing the point here - everyone is hoping the facts and evidence point to what we are all hoping to be true. But, that will play out in the legal system and it could legitimately, not an exaggeration, take years to find that out. It won’t be resolved by February to make a run at it in March. The number of people declaring TSJ’s Illinois career over before hearing all the facts is … disappointing.
Since news broke this afternoon, I have been reading everyone's posts and trying to put together my thoughts. It is horrible news but I think the easiest thing is to sum it up. So here goes.
Terrence has been accused of a horrible crime. None of us, except for Terrence and the girl, know what really happened. There are only two possibilities, each with their own consequences:
1. Terrence IS guilty of raping the girl. If so, then the legal process will play out over 8-10 months and he will be punished for his actions. Because of how long it will take, his college basketball career is over, he will not be named in All American, a Big 10 first-teamer, or leading the Illini to a good postseason tournament run. He also won't be drafted in the NBA draft this summer and be able to earn millions of dollars in the league. And if he's guilty, he deserves all of that.
2. Terrence is NOT guilty of raping the girl. If so, then the legal process will play out over 8-10 months and he will be exonerated. Because of how long it will take, his college basketball career is over, he will not be named an All-American, a Big 10 first-teamer, or leading the Illini to a good postseason tournament run. He also won't be drafted in the NBA draft this summer and be able to earn millions of dollars in the league. IF he is not guilty, that is a horrible thing to have happen to him and I feel terrible for him.
Both alternatives make me sick, so there is no good outcome. Because of everything he has done for the team, my natural leaning is to believe alternative #2. But that makes me sick because it is so unfair for Terrence.
Just like everyone else on here, I know nothing about what transpired, so I will have to wait and see how it plays out. But either way it makes me absolutely sick.
