I thought the same thing. I've done it a few times in the NCAA football games just for fun but thought it would look horrible in person, but I was pleasantly surprised. I do think it would look better with the blue helmet though. Maybe I just like the alternating look since my favorite combo is O/B/O. And I think (since I've never seen it) road combo would be B/W/B, I think that would look sharp.

Current thoughts on uniforms:

- One year later, I still think the total football package is pretty sharp. Definitely better than some of the other recent Nike rebrands. Some inconsistencies bug me (i.e. striping differences from the helmets to the shoulders to the pants) but overall I'm very happy.

- I like that the grays (thus far) have remained just a once per year thing. I like them but I want to keep them fresh/special, and overuse can kill that.

- To whoever in the DIA might be reading this: please, Please, PLEASE wear blue helmets, blue jerseys, white pants for the Soldier Field game. Rolling into Chicago with the Bears classic home look would be absolutely fantastic, so please make it happen.

+1. Gotta tie in the Halas/Bears connection with Illinois. This would be a fantastic idea. Also hope they decorate the stadium to make it truly feel like an Illini home game - not just a random game at an NFL stadium. Make Northwestern feel unwelcome in every aspect.

I think it was the very first time we ever wore orange jerseys and blue pants. I always thought it would look very bad but I think it looked great.

Nope, we did it with blue helmets a few years back. I thought it was awful with blue lids, not too bad with orange.

I would almost guarantee that's what they do.

Count me as loving the orange helmet. I like the all white I set against the metallic. Gives it a burnt orange look. Not a fan of blue helmets in any uniform combo but makes sense for the Soldier Field game.

I wouldn't mind seeing blue/orange/white like the Bears alternate unis:

Totally agree. I think the O/B/O combo they worse against Middle Tennessee is by far their best uniform set. I'd love to see those for every home game.

For this Saturday, would like to see something we've yet to try, like B/W/O, or W/W/B. Keep testing out the combos, keep it fresh.

I personally dislike the orange helmets. The color of the orange is dull. The white is the best and surprisingly the blue does not bother me.

Probably a deal the new AD should make. Or they could just re-up the current apparel company for 2 years.

Not sure where this belongs ... but I really like the lighting at night of the stadium columns.

I like it most when they just use one color at a time though (not the orange and blue striped lighting). One color gives it a more classic look .
