I think 1 of 2 things is happening...

1) The rumors are true, we don't have any of the blue uniforms yet.

2) A poster brought this idea up awhile back...maybe they're going with Orange/White to start the season (warm weather, players won't be as hot) and then Orange/Blue to end the season (introduce the blue once it's cold out).

I'm compliant with option 2. :thumb:
The other option (no matter the surrounding circumstances) is inexcusable for a Nike rebrand.

The orange helmet and pants look good tonight, even if the team in them aren't playing well. What I do not understand is why the center stripe going down the side of the pants isn't white like the helmet center stripe.

I've asked multiple people associated with the program the same question and none have responded. The only explanation I can think of why the striping on the orange pants is different is because they are meant to be worn with the white jersey and they wanted the striping to match. The white jersey and orange pants both have navy/orange/navy striping. If that's the case however, they should have navy/orange/navy striping on the helmet. It wouldn't be hard to change the striping on the helmets.

Agree.

Devil is always in the details for a good design. Clearly, this wasn't Nike's best effort. I can live with the stripe inconsistencies.

I think that was me... and it wasn't rooted in any knowledge of the situation.

That was more stating a personal preference on my part.... I think the oranger uniforms look better (and are probably more comfortable) when we have the potential for late summer scorchers labor day weekend, and by the time long sleeves come out I like the look of the blues more.

Does everyone here still love lamp?

I guess they're wearing the grey uniforms this week against Purdue? Do you have any info on the helmet? Is it grey or silver? Is it chrome, matte or in between?

I will say the orange helmets looked great to me. The white I really popped under the lights. Prior to the re-brand, you wouldn't be able to read the slant Illinois from any distance other than a close up, but the I does stand out. The shade of orange had a good look to it as well.

NU's uniforms were atrocious in my opinion. The silver looked bad and the matte helmet even worse. I liked the black N on the helmet but the matte finish is a fail I think. JMO.

I remember someone saying we would wear grey on homecoming against Minnesota. I hope they don't do it for Purdue because it is supposed to be an "orange out".

Oh, gee. I can hardly wait. Orange and blue are great school colors, yet for Homecoming the Illini apparently are going to wear one of Ohio State's hues. Wow. :tsk:

Isn't it obvious that the team needs to wear orange for the "orange out" game??

I really hope they do away with the two tone script. It just doesn't look good.
