Illinois Football: We aim to misbehave

FWIW, I'm pretty sure it was the relationship between Ron Guenther and Shad that led to the donation for the Khan Tennis Complex.
The second most important criteria for a successful AD (after fixing football) is finding a person who connects well with people like Shad, Jerry Colangelo, the Bielfeldt family, and the I Fund Loyalty Circle donors.
If UI can't land George, I continue to hope for someone like Bowen or Frazier.
Does anyone know what this week means? Friday? Sunday? A week from today?
So what made Khan donate to that particular sport, sport?
The Open ends on Sunday. If Tiley's taking it, expect news by Wednesday-Thursday, if not sooner.
I think it could be even longer than that. I would think the two sides would want to sit down and discuss some things which could take awhile. Unless Illinois has sent someone to Austrlia or will have someone there after it may take him a few days to get here before anything really gets laid out.

Conference call...

<Tiley> Yada yada
<sch> OK. Deal. Welcome aboard.

It was one of the biggest projects on Guenther's list at the time.
Say 20 schollies added for the men's Hockey team. They'd have to add 20 women's schollies. Add salaries for new coaches, expenses for new teams, that's a significant drain on AD revenue. That drain won't be remotely made up by additional revenue derived from hockey and whatever women's sport(s) we added.
Title IX is the primary reason that we don't have more men's teams (e.g., soccer).
I'm as hopeful as anyone that Tiley is the guy. But it does seem to me that if so, it might take several days after the tournament ends to reach agreement. I assume that he is too busy right now to also explore everything that he would want to understand (who's my boss?, what's my authority, what's your commitment level, etc) to leave a very good gig for CU. End of next week? That's my guess, based on nothing.
What if we add a woman's lingerie football team with the scholarships? Could be the first profitable women's program.
I'd buy season tickets for that!
Is there any thought that the recent Tennis betting scandal would taint a Tiley hire at all? I assume there is very little connection, but I honestly don’t know the relationship/influence network in tennis that well.
Also, I know there has been some criticism of the way Tennis Australia has handled the discipline of Kyrgios. Additionally, no Aussies made it to the quarters in men’s and women’s singles (though none were really expected to).
I still think Tiley would be a good hire and is probably the best realistic choice. Just interested if any tennis followers have additional thoughts due to these recent developments.
