If it was Bernstein who said it, he seems to know Shannon Ryan. He doesn't have sources of his own though. He pretends to. So also a chance he just looked up who had the strongest ties to Illinois and went with it.

I'm guessing it was Bernstein since he's the only one who ever talks illini on there, usually for the worse.

yeah, if this ends up the way we all want, dipstick bernstein will look like an azz again. Of course there is nothing wrong with looking exactly how you are. :shield:

They said based on a Tribune report. The Tribune did not say Michael was the front runner.

If this University passes up on Tiley for Michael it would be the equivalent of Harry and Lloyd passing up the Hawaiian Tropic bus at the end of Dumb and Dumber.

If they hire Tom Michael I'm changing my interim fan status to ex-fan.

as an illini through and through, trust me, it that is all it takes for you to leave the fanbase, then you weren't really a true fan. True fans stick out the low times and party in the high times. True fans know there will be both. True fans always want the best, but also accept those that failed. It's hard for many to understand. I get it. :thumb: I loved Dee Brown who played for the national championship. I also supported Brooks Taylor and Chester Frazier who did not. I will pat every guy on this current team on the back, even Jaylon Tate and Mav Morgan and give them my support. I will support John Groce when nobody does because he is an illini....plain and simple.

Can I question him, them or the whole shabang..Damn straight I can. But I will never be an EX-FAN. NO WAY..NO HOW! :shield:

EX fan= no fan. :)

Do you quit being a dad when your kid is struggling? Do you quit being a husband when your wife is going through hard times? Do you quit on your dog when he poops on the floor? Did we quit when the germans bombed pearl harbor? Hell no!

Disclaimer- This post is 100% the way I feel and 5% in jest. Nothing personal to the previous poster of whom I quoted. :chief:

Werner didn't exactly say Tiley is the favorite, but he said they were waiting for Tiley for the end of the Aussie Open on his radio show today. He hinted as strongly as he could hint that Tiley is likely the favorite.

If Tiley was waiting for the Open to end, I assume there has been communication between both parties for awhile.

George.

Else Tiley.

More than likely Tiley (welcome back!!)

Rest are fillers to comply with regulations I would think.

Seems to me Tiley has been their guy all along, knowing G would not come.

The only reporter who has been both not wildly wrong and frequently ahead of the curve on the palace intrigue at Illinois over the past year or so is Shannon Ryan. Both Bernstein and Werner have been wildly off base.

Get this done by the end of the week if Tiley is serious, which I expect he is since he is in Indianapolis.

There should be pressure to get this done if it is Tiley. We have an important decision to make and soon. Might take a bit to give the Australian Tennis people notice and then also packup and move 24 hours away to centrial Illinois.

How has Werner been off base?

On the scout premium board he was reporting that George was all but a done deal as of the day George gave his firm "no".

I don't think the problem with this is people making stuff up as much as "sources" who aren't as plugged into the situation as they think they are. Those are almost impossible judgements to make as a journalist, but whoever is talking to Ryan is clearly pretty clued in.

Werner as been far from off base. Hes been conservative in what he outs out there but he's actually been very good. Ryan has been better but I think that's because Werner makes absolutely positive what he posts is right.

I've read almost everything posted there and never once did I get the impression that what he was pitching. He said from the Illini side they were all in on him but always made it clear they would have to convince George to leave Colorado.

Meh, kidnap him then pay him! :thumb:

Word has it his wife wants to come home. Quite frankly, we all know he has no choice! ;)

It's doubly impressive that she's able to do all this reporting in addition to her day job of running an anti-Illinois propaganda machine, amirite?

I wonder who she knows because she has been right most of the time. I'm not a huge fan because it seems like every article she writes blasts the university(which has been pretty easy to do lately). Seems like Tupper has been on top of things from the get go as well.

Hey-o

I don't want to sound like I'm ragging on Werner. Recruiting site premium subscribers are paying for the more frequent content and lower filter for innuendo that those sites offer, that's the whole point. They do a great job over there. But you have to take that stuff with a grain of salt.

I'm just glad you said knows.

I don't recall Werner saying George was a done deal, I'm a member of that board too. In fact, I think Jeremy Werner is the best person currently covering Illinois athletics.

Yep, the most expensive hire is one who fails. An AD who lifts basketball and football back to relevance would be cheap at any price.

Yup, Mike Thomas expensive payout with results that are hurting our bottom line.

Bruce Weber, Ron Zook, Tim Beckman - same thing - payouts, lawsuits, dwindling attendance, less marketing value
