Don't tease me. But hope you're right--he seems like such the perfect hire.

Wait, who's the third? Pretty big dropoff after George, IMO
Any chance of getting Phillips from Northwestern:

I have been told by a person who would know that Phillips will only leave NU to become the Big Ten Commisioner or a President/CEO of one of the Chicago professional franchises.
Teddy, is that you?
A) the classical denial that eventually leads to him bein hired.
B) he heard through sources he is not the choice anyway.
He's still involved.
We probably lost our chance at Rick George when Barbara Wilson announced that she'd be forming a search committee. Maybe they don't really want George (after all, he committed the heinous crime of giving a recruit a hundred dollar bill like 30 years ago). Maybe they're just incompetent. Maybe both. I lean towards the latter.
If they wanted to hire George they should have been ready to make an offer immediately after firing Thomas. Unfortunately, this is Illinois, so we just drift along with incompetent leadership.
I have no confidence that they're going to find an A+ AD. I can't imagine anybody really good would want this job. It's a dumpster fire.
Thank goodness, please keep him as close to the program as possible.
On the other hand, he could be helping us to save face and not publicly reject an offer (that we already made) by saying he just isn't leaving CO.
So he said "Should Illinois contact me...I will decline the offer." Does that mean we haven't contacted? Surely someone has said something to him to show we are interested, right?
If Illinois is already talking about having the AD search all completed by early next week at the latest, and RG is saying "should Illinois contact me..." it makes me think we haven't officially made an offer. If we haven't made an offer, how can he know he wants to decline?!?! :suspicious:

Who knows?
