You obviously have no clue about newspaper reporting. I've yet to see her write a "salacious" story. Her tweets and article on this were nothing but names and connection to the university. You know, facts.
She is not a shill or a PR extension of the university. And you, like Beckman, evidently think that's the job of a newspaper reporter.
I would say her sources were pretty good last week when she broke the Cubit for 2 years story that half the board derided her for and said she was just trying to make a name for herself. Reporters don't make names for themselves by publishing BS articles. This is as bad as the people who blamed Jerry Meyer for Cliff going to Kansas because he started changing his CB pick the morning of the decision.
People like you remind me of the President Truman story during his 1948 presidential campaign whistle stop tour.
Member of the Crowd - "Give 'em hell, Harry."
Truman - "I just tell the truth and they think it's hell."
You are one of "they".
No, I was referring to the Cijanovic (sp?) story where she listed facts on twitter and on the Score that were already on this very board. She is a reporter, and should be presenting facts, NOT just part of the facts. I do not WANT nor expect a U of I biased story. Never have. The truth should be out there.
She is picking & choosing facts to paint a narrative, plain and simple. I have listened plenty on the Score to hear her leave out facts to fit the narrative they want, or give out half-truths. Her tweets on the search committee are a perfect example. She gives no background as to why Matt Wheeler is part of the committee, not anyone else. Did she do any digging on to WHY these people are on the committee? No, she just listed them with their titles, leaving it open for reaction. We all know the fanbase is at an all time high for over reactions, so she just tells everyone Matt Wheeler is an Ag Professor, thus increasing the hits she'll get and heightening the buzz around the story. That's what opinion pages are for.
You don't know me, so don't paint me with a bunch of ignorant assumptions based off of stupid reactions by people about Cliff Alexander and Harry Truman. Really? Did I say salacious by the way? No. But I guess I could paint you as part of the lunatic fringe. Also, I saw the Cubit story broken by others on bleacher report first. One broken story does not make a good reporter, otherwise we have multiple "recruiting insiders" on this board who should be changing their jobs since they "knew" a recruit was committing before he actually did....
I don't want news outlets kissing U of I's !!!. I also don't want them twisting the story to fit a specific narrative. You ever wonder why The Score never references any other reporters work on the U of I???
If you go back and look at the few posts I have, You'll see I call out coaches, players, admin, and posters for accountability. Again, you don't know me.
I tried to give some info I had from a very, very credible booster source. If this is what happens, I'll keep it to myself.
In the meantime, Glass houses...
