BOOM! Feed my ego.
I don't think the heir apparent at UNC is someone who is 54 years old like Marshall.

Correct me if my memory fails, but wasn't Roy Williams about the same age as Gregg Marshall is at this point?

Best outcome of the UVA-UNCW game is for Keatts to lose. A win/loss for Bennett has no effect on his stock or our coaching search, a win by Keatts will make his stock explode. Not good they way things are shaping up.

Will make his stock explode with who? Our competition, by which I mean JW's competition, is other P5 ADs. Keatts has been on their radar for a while. All a win does is increase how much he can command in his next job, which is a game we're well-positioned to play.

Keatts

Get the train gifs ready. This thread is about to get silly sillier.

EDIT: no strikethrough bbcode, Dan!? Awww.

It is not that ADs are smarter or dumber, it is reality. Tournament success improves Keatts stock, and current openings (IU, NC State) do not help.

Well obviously the underlying reality of Kevin Keatts doesn't change in one game, so what you're saying is that the market is dumb.

The market is dumb, but not as dumb as it was 20 years ago.

Keatts is justifying the hype early, but JW will have to break the trend of hiring the opposite of what just left.

One took Butler to two title games and is in the middle of a six year/$22MM contract with the NBA's most storied franchises and the other is at Virginia. I'd say that's a pretty huge difference.

Of course it is. To compare the two is absurd.

Yes, but unfortunately so is the perception between the Indiana coaching opening and the opening at Illinois.

That's the post I responded to.

Yes, I was saying that no way would Porter come to Champaign when Columbia was an alternative. Do you think he bailed on Romar to tell Cuonzo I'll follow you wherever you go? No, he likely told Cuonzo if you go to Mizzou, I'll follow and bring my sons with me. The main appeal was Mizzou, not Cuonzo, IMO. Cuonzo and the Porters together was never an option for Whitman, IMO.

(rember in 2012 when the coach of a upstart 13 seed really proved himself by beating #4 Michigan and pauses): D#$% the torpedos, Keatts train full speed ahead.

Also. I am not saying that there isn't a big difference between candidates. I am saying there isn't a big difference in landing them. 0% for IU and maybe 5% at best for us. Not much of a difference.
