Other P5 dc’s wanting to come here or a g5 hc coming here? Why do I look at this with hesitation??

I'm happy with any of the three. My gut says it will be Conklin and Partridge follows with AHC/DL title they both worked at Pittsburgh for Pat Narduzzi.

You’d give any of them an “A”?

Yeah, I think so. Mizzou's defense was a little worryingly bad this year, but I'm not gonna freak out in either direction about this goofy Covid season.

Knowles would probably be my pick of the three. That is a pro's pro coaches coach. Though maybe the others excite you a bit more as recruiters.

But for me, get a solid gold coordinator and let the position coaches get you the players.

Man, I will be very happy if we announce one of those three tomorrow.

Probably not. I don’t know how much of the defense was Muschamp at SC
You would rather have Robinson if you're trying to beat Alabama and Clemson for five star S. Florida recruits. But let's be real, we aren't.

These guys are all in his class as a DC. Knowles perhaps better.

Miznoz defense had a lot of games with multiple starters and backups out this year.

These are better names than pretty much anything listed in here. They’re as good as ash

Yeah. Though so did the offenses he played, y'know? Just take it all with a grain of salt, IMO.

I liked that Whitman acknowledged that when he fired Lovie. "You just have to accept that it's not fair"

Razorback fan here, I actually like Coach B. Met with him a few times as I n lead one of the booster clubs. I like the hire. Coach made one bad hire I n his time here and that was Kurt Anderson to replace Sam Pittman. Sounds like in his OC pick he is looking to go more spread. He tried to blend power and spread under Enos and it was not bad had it not been for Anderson lack of Oline production. Honestly had it not been for Anderson I feel Coach might have still been here. Good get for DC would be the Mizzou coach look at their defenses with basically 3 star talent and they are very solid

Ash has coached nationally elite defenses at multiple different Big Ten schools, including with Bielema. Plus excellent recruiting chops. That's a cut above, for me.

But these are all top quality guys.

While Conklin surely makes the least money by far, it strikes me that Walters, who was an Odom holdover on Drinkwitz' staff, probably has the most reason for wanting to start fresh somewhere else. He's a young guy, and he'll restart his clock and become a multiple-stop P5 DC by making the move. Smart on both counts. That will be my guess.

Agreed on most of the above. Walters seems like it may be the best of the bunch, but if it truly is one of these 3 and I'm betting, it's going to be Conk. Knowles just makes no sense in any way, shape or form.

My little hesitation on Walters is, if you’re going to steal a 30-something P5 coordinator, be prepared for him to be stolen away from you.

Oh don't spend a second worrying about that. A problem we desperately need to start having again.
It’s a good problem to have in terms of problems but still means a new coordinator within the first few years

Just curious why you think that about Knowles?
